FCC Seeks $1.43 Million Fine for Bare Butt Shot

The Parents Television Council, a public interest group that has been behind many of the complaints filed about broadcast television and radio shows that have resulted in fines, said in a statement that it was happy the FCC had taken action. "We are thankful that the FCC has finally taken a stand for children and families with this unanimous order," PTC president Tim Winter said.

Yeah... because sooooo many children and families are watching this show...

I do remember vaguely in this one movie, some guy asked a kid what his/her (i think it was a girl) favorite show was, and she replied NYPD Blue... :p

"Our action today should serve as a reminder to all broadcasters that Congress and American families continue to be concerned about protecting children from harmful material and that the FCC will enforce the laws of the land vigilantly," Ms. Tate said.

Dear Ms. Tate,

Please explain how seeing a nude woman get into a shower will harm children. Cite a credible authority on child development and psychology.

She wasn't bent over, taking it in the rear from Terrell Owens, for Pete's sake. She's getting into the FRIGGIN SHOWER.

I wish the courts would be as tough on actual criminals as they are being on these guys. I realize, it is a different court, but I can dream. :(

Didn't realize she was logged in on this computer.

The TV station where I used to work aired the now-infamous Janet Jackson debacle and I have to tell you that the fall-out was horrendous. The Parents Television Council is not a public interest group, but a whacked-out conglomeration of freaked out Holy Rollers that scare the piss out of me. Their leader reminds me of Jim Jones. Such a creepy guy.

They came after us, tooth and nail, as if we had anything control over what happens at the network level. These people are something else.

There are crazy people in this world. :( There always have been, always will be. The really scary part is that the government agrees with them.

Caving is the path of least resistance

Especially where those people are concerned. They hounded me. I had thousands of letters, written from all over the country. It was a freaking local station, but they came from everywhere.

It was the call from some guy in Canada that pushed it over the edge for me. I went off of the fool. He told me it was a sad state of affairs that our government didn't do something to put a stop to "such trash." I asked if he voted here. He said no. I asked if he paid taxes here. He said no.

I then informed him that he could take his hand out of his pants and stop wacking off because I would not feed his psycho-sexual need to intimidate. I told him to go fuck his mother and be sure to video it for posterity.

I never heard from him again. Strange that he never called back.

But every time he shows that video tape, he mentions his conversation with you first

Of all the 'crimes' legislated' out of nothing 'blasphemy' is the most amazing. With 'obscenity' and 'indecent exposure' fighting it out for second and third place. - Robert A. Heinlein

I'm really beginning to think there's something to David Brin's theory of an "indignation bong," that such people really are self-doping on the neurochemicals released from indignity and outrage.

Anger, hatred and fear are addicting. In the same way that extreme sports can be addicting. Massive blasts of endorphins and adrenaline triggered by the fight or flight reflex.

'Moral indignation' is a common way of getting your hit. Sigh.

Gotta love nature: when we need to be at our most rational, we get doped up to either punch the other guy inna face or throw our own feces and run like Hell.
