Too many. It's in the teens here and I have driving the kids to school. That is when it's not on a delayed schedule due to icy roads.

:rose:

Speaking of children:rolleyes: Did you have your school conference?

Mmmhhmm, yesterday. It was as I thought. He was/is a bit too young/immature for school but his teacher said he is doing great. She stated she will leave the decision up to me, if he is to continue to the first grade. She is all for it. She feels he will be tested at that point and they can work from there on his level of maturity.

I feel as if I am confusing you but basically it is my decision and she wants him to go to the first grade and have the test. Apparently they will not do the testing in Kindergarten. The school board refuses because they think all kindergartners are too immature for the test ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...

:rose:

Thank you for keepin up with us, lol

short story.........

My oldest......1984. First conference in first grade. 'Your child is a distraction in my classroom.' "He's bored!!!" 'He's an overachiever' "No Mrs X, not o/c. He has high IQ." 'How do you know.....blablabla?' "Mrs X, you know my wife works here.....he was just tested at the end of k." 'You aren't supposed to have those results.' "His k teacher wanted his mother to know, and this is exactly why she was told" 'What are you going to do about his behavior?' "Not what am I going to do, but what are you going to do. He is a good child. Gets along well with his peers, siblings and others. He is active in sports and plays well with teammates. Helps others to increase their skills. Here is every paper you have given him thru X-mas. Everyone has a smilie, and no comments(I had 30 papers in numerical order.). You are not challenging him, look at this, your room is sterile, there is nothing on the walls. First graders need visual stimulation, there is nothing on all four of your walls." 'Now you are challenging the way I teach!!!!' "You just asked me what I was going to do to my son, what gives you the right if I don't have the same?" 'Mr Z, this conference is over.............' At this point she was crying, and went to the principal. I was told never to come to an conference except when the principal was there. What a joke. They dumb down, starting early. As soon as possible I had him moved to a different school which used the IQ test as basis for class placement. Never seemed to have another problem with his deportment, graduated third in his class in HS and went on to college.

They aren't always right, use your own head.......

VERY TRUE George

Short Story of my own...

When they were teaching us to read in Kindergarten I wasn't doing so well. They put me in the remedial group, but wanted to keep me back because I just wasn't learning how to read.

They called my Mom in and wanted to tell her that they recommended keeping me back so they could get my reading where they thought it should be. My Mom listened to all of this and they explained their methods for teaching me to read.

Mom sat there and listened and at the end she said "Can I take some of the teaching workbooks home so I can try and help him over the break?". They said it was OK, but I don't think they thought it would help.

Mom sat down with me over the break and we went over it carefully, but with the usual fun attitude that runs through my family and our overall approach to life.

Finally our break was over and it was time to go back and be tested to check our progress. They would give you a test and then the principle would call people to his office and annouce your results to your parents. Finally it was my turn to hear my results. With my Mom there the principle looked at my paper expecting to see the normal 20-30 words that the child could read. He looked at the results and gasped.(I swear to you he did gasp) He looked at me and said "You can read 60 words?!".
I looked at him and grinned "Yep, I can". He looked at my Mom in disbelief "He can read 60 words?!". My mother smiled and said "Yes, he can".

They don't always know how to reach a child. You just have to find the right approach.

George,

I know your right and I have used my head. I work/have worked with him on a daily basis. His problem you ask? He is a very active boy. Just that, he is a lil boy who fears nothing and he is always ready to go on his next adventure, lol. There is no stopping this child and he will fly to the first grade. I just got a bit caught up with, soo what do you think's at the conference and believe me when I say, she did get a piece of my mind.

Thank you both for having my back on this. Sometimes as a single parent, I feel a lot alone in the decision making and worry way too much ...

You're also a very sensual woman with a soul that desires to give of herself in ways that any man would (should) cherish. RF has a lusty playful side that she should allow to come out and play more often. Her words speak of depth, emotion, a serious side, as well as a playful one. I hope to see more and more of the playful. Its worth the trip.

I had to post this here to tell MF ...

Thank You, your tha sweetest !!:kiss:
