It's new series airing wednesdays after Mythbusters. It's kind of like "Mythbusters on Steroids."

This weeks episode made me think of Seacat's hurricane proofing projects because they took a junked mobile home and wrapped it in carbon fiber fabric and then staked it down a few yards behind a 737 at full throttle and shot two-by-fours at it.

If they'd used the right anchors for the tie-down straps, I think they just might have made it hurricaneproof. They did manage to roll a single wide house trailer over twice without turning it into kindling!

:bump:

What nobody interested in a series about smashing things for science and entertainment?

Our kids love Mythbusters - and young son has recently discovered the Smash show, as he calls it.

Great fun.

:D

Didn't see it unfortunately. I'll have to keep my eyes open for it next week.

I've only caught it a couple of times and wasn't able to pay close attention except for yesterday's carbon-fiber trailer-house.

The sneak peak episode over the Holidays was about adapting Rhino-Liner's patented spray on pickup bedliner to reinforce buildings and vehicles against IEDs and car-bombs. That was some pretty impressive explosions and some pretty good results.

Check your local listing for Saturday -- I think that's when the Wednesday shows repeat.

We saw the carbon fiber/trailer reinforcement episode. It was OK... but I gotta say, it wasn't Mythbusters.

They have some hellacious crashes and explosions, too! :D

No, it's not Mythbusters, but it's got the explosions and air-cannons and stuff that Mythbusters do -- and a bigger budget for things to smash. :p

I do like the premise that they're looking for practical "safety" applications of existing technologies. Two of the three episodes I've seen have featured ways to make buildings safer and the other was about using aerated concrete for divided highway medians to stop cars from crossing into oncoming traffic.

(the aerated concrete episode wasn't nearly as successful as the building reinforcment episoded.)

I haven't seen it, but I'm fairly addicted to Mythbusters. Ok mostly to kari byron, but the rest of the show has some fun moments.

Just stay awake an extra hour on Wednesdays. :p It comes on right after the new episode of the week for Mythbusters.

Sarah, I wonder how many people have e-mailed that picture to Hyneman?

Laughing -

We'll have an idea if he shaves off his own face fur.

:D

Smash LAb does repeat at Ten PM Saturdays.

The promo for next week looks interesting -- apparently they're going to turn a "bounce house" inflatable play house into an airbag for a railoroad engine's cowcatcher
