Ok, so aside from The Samaritans and Childline, i can't think of anyone else that has volunteer- run confidential advice lines...?

I already looked at Nightline, and that's stopped recruiting for training this year...

I need to hurry up and get the BPS application put through so i have access to other jobs.

I need to email L too and ask her some stuff about what other kinds of experience i can get that are suitable.

ETA Stonewall doesnt have an advice line, otherwise that would have been a good choice too.

*sigh*

I feel guilty for blowing off classes today, but it's too cold to outside. I'm gonna stay home in my jammies with hot tea.

Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast (dry of course)

Related but not: I am so ready to give up on all of this...

Eeew! I was wondering what was so bad about steaming brats' with spicy mustard and sauerkraut. Although even they would get tiresome after a couple days . . .

;)

Best wishes to you, papa-L and baby-L. :rose:

Fuuuuuck.

I just slipped on the ice and busted my knuckles open. Blood and random pieces of skin everywhere. Bleargh.

Why is it always that part of my body that gets injured? I'm going to have more scars there, aren't I?:(

Ah, well, I suppose it is better than some actual serious injury. I still don't like it though.

Enough! Just hold off on any more bills for a bit, please!

I am so sick of being on the BRAT diet, but damn it anything other than that doesn't settle at all in my tummy...

Some Universities have help-lines... does that help you at all?

V (will bend my mind to other options)

As I've said many times, I loathe the word 'statist'.

But I should be understanding. If someone uses the term 'commie scumbag', which is what 'statist' is code for, people laugh at them thinking them paranoid.

Nobody likes to be laughed at.

Glad I got that off my chest. Kinda disappointed in myself for letting it fester for that long, though.

Thanks guys, just having a really hard time with being sick right now which doesn't help anything emotional...But I'll get better, I'll take care of myself. Have time off with hubby today and we're going to relax and watch a movie together, something we haven't been able to really do for a while.

*hugs for anyone who wants or needs them*:kiss::rose:

This is not a political thread so if you want to talk about it please start a thread but I will address engage further - this will be my only post here.

You make an assumption about what people mean when they use a perfectly valid word to describe a philosophy of governent, or perhaps more accurately an attitude toward government. And we all know the component parts of the word "assume."

"Statist" refers to an individual who has an extremely high opinion of the efficacy of government in solving societal problems. It is true that the connotation is usually that the opinion is misguided and not justified by reality, but that connotation does not necessarily apply; political scientists use the term in a purely denotative, "non-normative" manner. And even the negative connotation is a long way from "commie scumbag."
