My first D&D story attempt

Freddy this is going well. I think this weekend, if I get a chance, I'll copy it all, do an edit and send it to you for submission. That other short you did in my thread, that's worth doing as well. Nice. I have another idea too. Going to PM you later or tomorrow with it.

I think I'll put in another two takes on the D&D story. I haven't planned anything out so anyone can throw in a suggestion. I pretty much just ramble my way through it like a made up blues song. I still don't know why or how though.

In the future, please bear in mind that this isn't a forum to publish excerpts of your stories, nor to solicit feedback for them. There are plenty of appropriate places to take such posts and stories.

Thank you,

Talk about a change of address request. Imagine all the creative minds that would not have been warped had I not posted here.

Oh well...nice knowing everyone at SI.

Well. OK.

So. No more posting Story Ideas. Turning those idea's into stories with others help and encouragement. Then having them edited. (by me mostly) and submitted for posting on lit.

Gee. Just what exactly is this board for then? GratefulFred's contest entry, posted today, came about exactly this way.

And just where exactly on this forum would this kind of activity take place. The AH would trash anyone who did this. Um. Feedback? You could I guess. You get plenty of people asking why you're posting the story and not submitting it... If you think the GB is the place for this, well, I suppose. Not the place to do idea's and turn them into stories.

So far, we've kept it all in LITS guidelines, not broken the content rules. All anyone did was post idea's and turn them into stories. *sigh* I wonder just who complained anyway. Imagine. No writing on a writing forum.

Sorry about the boot, Fred. That story was really good.... and I guess I'll never find out what gender Dark Bee was. Did Risia say what other thread we could keep throwing ideas into until one of us breaks out into a full story? After I saw the post I kept looking so I wasn't sure.

Excerpts of stories are not story ideas, they are excerpts of stories. Ideas are just that: abstractions, potentials for stories, things that might be followed up on later. They are elements, not scenes. The difference is both large and intensely obvious.

No, there isn't another thread in which it would be appropriate to post your incomplete stories and have others respond to them. There are, however, fora for such things. Story Feedback & Discussion is such a forum. The general board is an option, for more limited types of exchanges about stories. Or, take it to email. If you want editorial assistance, there is an extensive volunteer editors program. So, you have lots of options.

But, if you post stories in this forum, they will get booted. I was being kind in warning the author not to post stories, rather than simply removing the content to a more appropriate venue. Discuss ideas, but don't post your stories, nor try to get your editing done here. No whining, no exceptions.

I hope that clarifies.

What is becoming perfectly clear lately, on this forum section and in others, that there are plenty of double standards in place.

It is OK, for instance, for someone to use an authors copyrighted pen name to post feedback to others. Free speech of course!

It is OK to write poetry in threads on the poetry feedback board, but not stories on the story feedback board.

It is OK to have a thread, that has nothing to do with a story idea, on the story idea board, "who do you want to fuck right now", But not a story snippet.

Yep. It's all perfectly clear. Just like purple type on a blue background.

Never fear RisiaSkye. We'll go elsewhere and nay bother ye again. :rose:

Not my forum, so I have no idea what you're on about here.
I do not see how this is even slightly relevant to the posting of your story. But, it is true that a place managed by many people will have inconsistencies. It is my belief that these are unintentional and slight. I'm sorry if you've had a more negative experience of it.

It is OK to write poetry in threads on the poetry feedback board, but not stories on the story feedback board.

Well, this isn't a story feedback board, so that's an irrelevant assertion. If you have a problem with how Story Feedback is run, I suggest you take it up with THAT moderator, however. I have no power to change it in any case.

It is OK to have a thread, that has nothing to do with a story idea, on the story idea board, "who do you want to fuck right now", But not a story snippet.

Finally, something actually relevant, if also inaccurate. The "Who do you want to fuck" thread has actually generated at least a handful of celebrity fantasy stories. It contains, in the form of mentions of people others find hot and therefore story-worthy, actual IDEAS rather than STORIES.

Is this thing on? I don't like to edit (others') posts and I don't like being the cop. Short snippets, about a screen worth (500-700) words, I usually let slide, though they are kinda off topic, because they help to generate stories. Sometimes, they get through because I didn't notice the thread. But, if you start writing a whole story using this board, then you're no longer using it as an idea forum so much as a place to perform group writing. That's what Author's Hangout, and email, and the RPG threads, and live chat (et al) are for, but not what this forum services.

My background is gray. Your mileage may vary. I use colored text to differentiate my moderating posts from my personal posts.

I agree, never fear RisiaSkye.

I'm not interested in being unreasonable. I'm not trying to make anyone's life hard, or send anyone into a fit of pique in which they pick up their toys and stomp home. I am, however, trying to keep this place away from becoming a place to write, edit, and publish your stories, so that it can continue to be a place to discuss ideas for them.

I apologize if I've hurt any feelings. I do not, however, apologize for trying to keep some semblance of order on the rare occasion it is needed. I find that about once a year, we have to go through the very few rules all over again, to bring the new crop of posters up to speed and remind the old-timer's who've lost the mission. It's just the nature of the beast.

So, here's a link to a thread it appears a few of the newer posters may have missed: http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=499503
