Just a thing I was wondering about. How many of the people in the Author's Hangout are active authors, and how many are here to hang out with the authors?

Now, this is not a "deport all the non-authors" thread. As the Forum Index clearly state, it's for anyone who want to hang out with authors: "Have a question for the author of your favorite story? Need some help writing your own story? Ask in here."

Just something I was curious about.

Voted but the Muses are on an extended holiday.

Two stories started for Valentine's Day are the first new writing since last May.

Author here also.

I'd click your poll but there's nothing that fits me. How about got a hundred stories finished but keeps losing editors to Real Life. :(

One decided to write herself. I guess she thought if I could do it anyone could.

Number two got married and hubby don't like her reading porn as he put it.

Number three, *sigh* don't ask.

It's a dangerous job but I still need an editor.

I have tried to write and I just suck at it, oh well
I like to read and encourage those of you that can :D

The year before last, I was a Survivor frontrunner... last year, I was a "good idea" writer...

This year?

Well I signed up for Survivor again. We'll see.

I used to write. I was actively writing even when I joined the AH back a year or two again. But I just lost my will to type out everything that wants to spew out of my head. I still compose stories in my head, but they never get written down anymore.

I write every once in a while when I have an idea. Most of my ideas lately have been non-lit, though.
I'll probably end up as a "just hanging out" pretty soon.

Option number 3 is so me. I used to be a really productive Lit author, until I got adult onset ADD in 2006. I will be back one day, I promise.

Aspiring. *smile*

I won't call myself an "author" until I complete my first real piece of fiction, rather than thinly disguised memoirs.

This fiction thing is a tough go, that's for sure.

It's very strange, but falling in love, and getting married seems to have stripped out all will to write.

I have stories in my 'pending' file, I have stories in my head......I just don't seem to have the kick up the arse necessary to write them. I'd rather just snuggle down on the couch with the wife.

I do intend to get back to it. Eventually.

Once the novelty of living with someone I truly love and just want to be with, wears off.

:D

I hope I become this:
"I write a story now and then when I have a good idea. A handful every FEW YEARS or so."

Due to a variety of circumstances I've actually been this:

"I used to write stories. Back in 2005 -2006. Now I just hang out."

Author here. ;)

I'm none of the above on the poll up there tho.

I have about 8 stories ready to post (or in development).

Just don't want to wear out my welcome with my readers, so I post 'em spread out a bit. :D

Hmmm, do I put down what I was last year or what I aim to be this year? They are two disparate things.

none of the above.

I write whenever I have time + energy in association. Most days, that's 10 minutes in the early dawn, because after that, by the time I have time, I lack energy.

But I usta write more feverishly, so I don't fit the occasional posting option, though in 2007, I only submitted a few. I'm hoping for more in 2008.

I wanted to answer that I used to write stories and poetry ... but it didn't apply to me because I still do, just not for free. I come back to Lit to find out if anything is happening. AH can be a good resource for writers at times and a great conversation when it involves writing.

Most of what I *had* on lit had been written previous to ever coming here. And, most of what I've written since has gone to other venues.

I'm also "None Of the Above", I've pulled all my work from Lit, and I don't really hang out in here. But, I still write.

come and go, you know, come and go.
here and there, this and that, diddle and dabble.
test flights, crash landings, orbital explosions.
sometimes in the mood, sometimes not.
sometimes wanting the mood but stopping at the threshold.
other interests come along, distract. this one returns, check out half-baked passages.
The usual, you know.

hmm, the quick reply didn't reply...

I've posted an average of three stories a week for over a year and a half--and am active in that there's always somethng in the submission queue waiting to post--but, like others, nothing in your poll applies to me.
