Nice pics, starr... what brand/model did you get? I'm in the market for one.

It's a Pentax, (can't remember the model, I'll have to check the box ) chosen because it should take the lenses off my old film camera. Haven't tested the theory yet.

I gave my daughter a Pentax SLR film camera in about 1970 or so, and it's still a good camera. I'll do a google search for Pentax digitals and see what comes up. Thanks.

starrkers',
It's nice to see some images of Oz and where you live. I've gleaned from your posts that you're isolated from "civilization" and subject to many of the vagaries of nature.

We in the States are just passing the winter solstice and there's a fabulous full moon beaming aloft here. Low clouds are rapidly scudding 'cross the sky and give the illusion that it's the sky that's flying past. Mars is supposed to be in opposition, so I'll have a gander 'round midnight to see if I can spot its unmistakeable red hue. I recall magical nights like this at sea when the moon gives meaning to the word "moonshadow" and casts a golden path upon the ocean's ceaseless swells. The recollection gives a sense that, notwithstanding all humanity's efforts, there is and will always remain a wildness to the world.

I hope you'll continue to post images of your part of the world.

Great pics Starrkers, what a wonderful start & look forward to many more pics of the great Aussie countryside as your photographic skills with the camera improve.

I enjoyed your pictures.

No professional critics from me, just appreciation.

:D

love your poem, gotta tell it to my friend
happy new year.

I love water, must be some Dutch disease. :D

Would you mind if I saved them for background on my pc at home?

Sorry. Haven't had a chance to go anywhere pic-worthy lately.

Don't you hate that, when nothing jumps out a you as "ooh oooh take my picture!"

The only thing worse is when 20 such moments occur and you don't have your camera. :(

Keep up the great work Starrkers.

I love that its so richly violet. If it was darker and more intense in life, I need to come visit.

:)Yayyyyyy, starrkers! Notwithstanding your disappointment, they're lovely. It's always frustrating trying to capture a moment. I've experienced the same; no matter how hard I try, it's ultimately impossible. I've become resigned to the fact. Nonetheless, images DO help retain memories. It looks like beautiful country to me.

These didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. They miss the totally surreal quality of the original colours. Taken over my back fence after thunderclouds had gone through - the sky was actually much darker than it appears, and purple-black. And I lost the intensity when I zoomed .

Delicious pics of Aussie sadly it looks like you could use a lot more rain there like Sydney has been getting, thankyou for posting them.

I like them and especially in the first one, you can see the strange quality of the light by the sharp shadows.

Keep trying, and posting!

:D

Awesome pics starrkers. Love the waterfall, the ril and the ones over your back fence.

Is that a mushroom in the one?

MJL

Thanks.

Yeah, it's some kind of fungus mushroom/toadstool. I just loved the colour.

Damn, even you get snow.

Although it's weird to see it at a time my mind says it's summer. :D

Nice ones, thanks.
