As promised earlier this week in Raeth's Photography Thread I have uploaded to Youtube the firework display that I was privileged to observe on New Year's Eve while on vacation.

Please do not expect cinematic magnificence. It was filmed on a Sony Cybershot camera I had purchased only hours prior and hand held as I viewed the fireworks not by lense but rather by eye. I have thrown a title on and overlaid Purple Rain by Prince to make it slightly more palatable.

It's authentic, for the curious, I hope you enjoy at some level.

Details as to the creative director for the evening and pyrotechnic display can be found adjacent to the production in Youtube.

Thank you for sharing! I have a Sony Cybershot that I use for videos and I am pleased with the quality. (of course I am very much an amateur :) )

It was my pleasure to share Miss Ecstaticsub. It's a cute little camera, made a huge leap from using my mobile phone to take pictures. Post Christmas sales, it was quite inexpensive to. Not sure how one defines amateur, if I didn't have a adaptive mind for technology I doubt I could have set the date. I know zilch about cameras. It was all price and brand. I am a Sony whore.

Very nice video Rebecca, I wish I could have been there to watch it!

I recently got a new camera as well, and also opted for a Sony, since it was a good deal, and it got pretty good reviews as well on my favorite camera review site.

It was the third and apparently final New Years production for the creative director Wayne Harrison, so we knew it was going to be a special evening. He orchestrated the Sydney Olympics previously, very talented. I wouldn't be too concerned Shyguy, if you're ever in Sydney ever at that time of year we have a habit of raising the bar. It will only get better. Something you couldn't see in that clip was the hundreds of boats on the Harbour that were a part of of it all. In daylight they just looked like they were day tripping but an hour or so after dark fell all these random types of boats suddenly lit up. The crowd went berserk. They were entirely choreographed. At the absolute pitch of the evening they also had fireworks on board and joined in the finale melee. It was a memorable evening though not for the reasons most may assume, hint of sincere melancholy presiding in me, the song I chose to overlay works for that reason alone.

Happy to hear about your camera, you will have so much to explore with it on your upcoming trip, guess we will all eventually reap the benefits.

Someday I might be there for new years eve, you just never know!

You can see some of the pics I've taken with my new camera on my Livejournal. Btw. the camera is a Sony Cyber-shot H5

I was in Sydney in 2004, 2005 NYE and what a way to celebrate the NY. I usually watch the ball fall but is so much better..

Apologies Shyguy & Miss Diva, I missed your posts until just now :rose:
