My story has been hacked

Oh, is that what he said? It's positively astounding what a stone expert this man is in nearly every arena of endeavor known to man. We should all bare our heads and pull our forelocks when he graces us with his presence.

And no, civility is not among his accomplishments.

Selena K has experience, of course, in submitting to Lit. But she didn't comment on this thread, did she? You, who have no experience in submission to spit at, are the one who pontificated. And not only pontificated but mispresented what I'd ever done--not that you have any idea what I'd done in the way of communication (not that this would stop you from pontificating). So, I'm not sure what your point is. :D

Damn - just when I think I've found some kind of creative utopia where everyone gets along in the name of Art and Eros I realize that wherever you go, there you are.

Babbygrrl - if your classical education had taught you that 'utopia' was Greek for 'no-place', you'd understand the tremors on AH Olympus.

Only because I've been away from Lit for a while... I'm sure I would have gotten to it, had I been here, to give Jack a hand, if no one else had come forward. Because that's what we do here. This isn't the GB. We're relatively civil and kind to one another, when we are approached with civility and kindness. But Cant did come to Jack's rescue. And Cloudy did. And SSS did. So why add my voice to theirs, when Jack's problem had been solved? I only responded to your rather silly assertion that they somehow had no "right" to give Jack advice because they didn't have enough experience submitting stories to Lit.

Seems to be there's no real problem left here at all... 'cept yours, Sr. And I'm not sure, even, what the problem is, except a whining "No one is paying attention to ME!" because Laurel didn't personally respond to your PM even though she fixed your story problem?

You catch more flies wth honey, you know... didn't your mama tell you that?

Awe, leave poor SR alone. He's still sulking because you can't cite song titles with Roman type in your stories here on Lit.

Don't ya just love the ignore button?

Alrighty then... I'll put my big head up against yours...

I have 175 stories on Lit that span 36 categories (inc poetry). (And it used to be over 200, before I pulled many of them for publishing.) Is that enough experience for you to give my opinion sufficent weight?

I have found the Literotica staff (mainly: Laurel) to be responsive, professional, and extremely accomodating. In all of the stories I've submitted, I have had TWO formatting problem. TWO. That's a pretty amazing statistic considering there is only one individual doing all the work of formatting and submitting 75+ new Lit stories EVERY day. Problems happen. They happen relatively infrequently. When they do, a polite PM takes care of the problem. Laurel doesn't always respond to my PMs - but she always, ALWAYS addresses the issue or fixes the problem.

I imagine she's rather busy and can't personally reply to every email or PM - but if your problem has been resolved - as Jack's was, and as you, Sr, admit yours was also - there's nothing left to complain about.

So, point to the complaints I've made about posting. If you go back to the history of what I've ever said about this, I've said just what you did--that the volume of submissions is so large that glitches will happen. I've had few glitches too compared to the number of submissions.

What I have countered is claims by those who have practically nothing posted that the operation is flawless or that Laurel and Manu "always" answer PMs. My experience is that they don't. So, it isn't something someone having their first submissions problem should count on or wait for. They should go to the FAQ section and they'll find instructions on refiling.

On this thread, Jack stated a problem and I stated I'd had almost exactly the same problem and how it got resolved. I said I didn't get direct responses so he wouldn't expect to get them either. I repeated the advice he'd already been given about how to get it fixed (the refile).

After that, posters who have little or no experience in the issue started dropping on my head and being ugly. THAT was where the ugliness started. The cyber yapper drones who have little reason to be posting on "author's hangout" at all--and who very little experience in story submissions here.

Lady Elfin - my classical education has been limited to what I've read in legend.

I do so enjoy most of my time here as I do learn much.

So if this is Olympus - I wonder who I would be?

Excuse me? My first posting to this thread told Jack what he should do. Cantdog's first posting to this thread was wholly an attack on me. Rewrite history much, SK? :D

Cant snapped at you, yes... but only because you made it sound as if you were still bothered about not getting a PM reply. To which a solution had already been offered.

Last year at just this time, one of my stories was completely messed up in the submission process. The text of someone else's story was posted with the title of a story I had submitted and under my name. I was on the Rhine watching the fireworks over Cologne and would never have checked to ensure the right story text was matched to my title. Luckily my backup reader who knew what story was supposed to go with that title caught the mistake and sent several messages to the Web site--and resent them the content of what was supposed to be under that title. Eventually my story got straightened out (I have no idea what happened to the material that mixed up with my submission). When I returned from Europe, I tried to find out what happened--but never received a response.

Honestly, Sr, you have interesting and useful things to say a lot of the time... but I don't know if you realize how you come across? It's rather off-putting. If you had originally said what you did in this last post...

... in that way, so matter of factly and without the implied judgment about the site and its owners...

you might not have received the original response from Cant and the subsequent ones from Cloudy and SSS...

Just something to consider.

Nah, of the two of us, I have more right to be posting on "authors hangout" then you do.

A perfect example of why I don't visit as often as I would have liked. :(
Well damn, here I thought this was the place for any author to post or just hang out, but it seems according to "someone" not all authors, regardless of how many stories posted, have the "right" to post on AH.

What gives him the right to say who has more of a right to post wherever?:confused:

I do have to admit, I get quite a laugh reading posts by some of the IMO "hot heads"!:D

Okay, I've said my piece. Now I'm going back to my writing.:rose:;)

Not much for irony, I take it. No, I don't really care about that. But it's all part of the game. Cloudy and gang post what they do to irritate me; and I post what I do to play their game. They howl the loudest when they are at their weakest--which obviously is in being cyber yakkers rather than story writers (on a storywriting site).

*going off to read*

Eloquent.

I'll take this as a begrudging acknowledgment that your "Cant posted to help Jack and you didn't" statement was wishful thinking and part of the mob mentality then. :)

And the gang dropped on me because they like to do that, not because of anything I posted to Jack. They did--and will--do it at any other opportunity too. It's the game.

No. Your post was grandiose and self-serving, and was clearly less meant to help Jack than to put your own problem on display.

Except it put much more on display than you probably intended.

*bowing out now* Good luck to you, sr.

I've read some of this thread: I've not had formatting problems.

I once made the fundamental mistake of writing a story in English-English, which promptly got rejected for "spelling".

After re-writing it in American-English, (i.e., color for colour, sidewalk for pavement, and so on) it was mysteriously :rolleyes: accepted.

And happy writing to you too.

Wow. I've actually written stories in English-English on purpose (I'm American) and had them accepted. How strange? :confused:

Maybe they weren't as English-English as you thought. I've had jobs where I had to translate English into American, but I think it would be hopeless (as an American) to try to go the other direction.

Yes - most odd; when I raised the point at the time, nobody could offer any sensible reason. Perhaps the person who vetted it had an anti-British bias?

Please! Not 'Lady', 'demi goddess' will suffice.

From what I've read from you on the GB, I am sure you are Artemis, the hunter. The bitch Artemis subdued and controlled the baying and inadequate males.:devil:

Or was truly ignorant of British spellings? :eek: I can't imagine...

Sorry that happened to you!

I think your ability to help new readers is great, but I have to buy into Sk's grandiose and self-serving comment with these extracts from Story Feedback;

Detailed critical analysis;

I haven't read the chapter so I don't know how realistic it is in this regard,

Grammatical and editorial advice to new writer;

Also, full sentences aren't required for fiction, and incomplete sentences can often be used to good effect

Full review on new writer’s story;

Oh, Lord, yes. Nothing scares off potential readers faster than beginning by telling them the reasons they may not want to read the story.

I rest my case;

Actually, you've said it a bit too often. ALL stories don't have to follow a set formula. There are lots of ways to skin the short story mode; if there were only one, what a dull literary form it would be. Technically (in what is being taught in creative writing programs today), all a short story need have is a dilemma and some form of change--but the pro writers even mess around with that idea in search of fresh approaches to the medium. (And no, the characters don't have to have names for the story to succeed, either.)

Remind me not tobuy your books.

Errr - I'm flattered?

Hmmm - yes, I believe I am. :D Very much so. Thank you, Elfin.

However, I didn't believe my ass-kicking skills were that noticable.

Sr, I have not responded to you in months. I don't read what you post. I don't think about you at all.

Yet apparently (if this thread is typical of you) you still frequently lump me in with "the gang" as being someone who is constantly attacking you for every little thing. You dredged up the "mob mentality" term again, and placed Selena in the same category? Apparently you still denigrate any advice given, as if no one but you is qualified to help newbie AH members. Now you're accusing people on this thread of voting down your stories, for heaven's sake.

If I truly gave a damn I'd check back through some of your posts to demonstrate how often you attack others, even while you're claiming complete innocence. And even when it is presented to you in black and white (as Selena did) you somehow can not see what others clearly can.

"Cyber-yapping drones?" Fuck you.

Leave me alone. Stop harassing me. Stay away from me.
