I nearly hijacked someone else's thread, but thought that perhaps this thought deserved a thread of its own...

So- what do you know 2008 will bring you? What do you hope it will bring you? What things are you guessing it'll bring you - and the world?

Any particularly good guesses for next year shall be recorded and if they come off a prize will be awarded (though this may be only a virtual one, depending on various things...)

For myself it will bring marriage to the man I love.
I hope it will bring me qualifications as a proofreader and some money.
I plan to complete a novel-length piece of writing.
I reckon Prince William will announce an engagement.

your turn...

I'm going to see a lot of good friends in Chicago on the March 28-30 weekend and have a great time partying with them. :D

The same will happen in Akron in the summer.

I'm sure I'll have at least one more e-book published.

Oh yes. I'm sure Conrad Black will skip the country before he goes to jail. And his wife will leave him because he's out of money. I mean irreconcilable differences. ;)

In the U. S. ? An endless flow of meaningless drivel from politicians of both sides :(

The never ending question: If common sense was dynamite could everyone in Washington generate enough force to blow one nose? :D

Professional politicians are not the solution, they are the problem!

What it will bring me?
My cousin is getting married.
I will play a lot of poker.
I will practice my kung fu as much as I can.

What I want from it?
Poker winnings.
More sex.
Less belly fat.

Interesting challenges professionally that if I am successful, will carry me to a higher plateau of my profession. This may be the peak year of my creativity and productivity professionally, although not necessarily in an "all downhill from here" way. More like the year when an artist creates what comes to be seen as her masterpiece, to use a rather puffed up analogy. The pieces are all in place, now I must show that I can perform.

I'll probably be moving this year so I can go to a big state university. I hope I'll come back home when I finish my degree, but I don't know.

Other than that, I don't have a clue.

  1. Sometime this year I'm going to give a party. If that sounds like a low-aspiring resolution, it should be pointed out that I have not doing this since 1990.
  2. I am planning to embark on an artistic business venture. More on the story as it develops.

I am almost scared to say in fear of jinxing them.

I will have at least one of three certifications I want.

I will have finished a novel.

I will move.

I will grow.

I will wear size 34 inch jeans again.

I keep saying, every year, that it's got to be better than the last, but it never is...so I just won't say.

Bills.

Glimmers of hope carried upon a waves of expectation... all but one of which will spread mercilessly against the shore. Surviving '08 might be enough. Anything else might be a bonus.

Slightly gloomy, lack of sleep...

neonlyte + gloom + sleep deprivation = poetry.
2008 = survival + poetry bonus?

Zombie apocalypse. It's got to happen sooner or later.

And I'll be ready, man!

1 marriage ~kids godmother
3 new babies in the family
new classes
several house projects
and I think there are 5 new things that I want to try to do but may not get time but I'll do at least one of the5. Every year I do at least one thing I have never done or seen before. Last year was skydiving. This year ...decisions decisions:D

Past that I never know what the new year will bring besides the normal chaos and drama.

well i will graduate from university.

and there is all kinds of stuff i hope it will bring as well...

My daughter will get married.

Hopefully, so will mine...she called me last year and said she'd met the man she planned to marry, they've been an item for some time now, but she also says that while they've talked about marriage, he hasn't officially popped the question. Sheesh! I need to know when to put in for vacation time!

I reckon Prince William will announce an engagement.

So British of you! ;) :rose:

2008 will bring me:
A trip to New Zealand.
A return to The Netherlands.
A hike to the top of Cloud Peak, Wyoming.
Kayaking lessons.
Fly-fishing the Yellowstone River (I'll settle for the Snake, if not).
Better health.
At least one more Lit story. Two years is too long.

For the world?
I can only hope more peace, more tolerance, and less American influence in general.

Cookies. 2008 will bring delicious cookies, even if I have to run out to the store and buy them.
