In terms of conversation, you can participate in the forums or try to meet people through Personals (and BDSM Personals, if you're looking for kink-oriented conversations). You'll probably have the best luck participating in discussions in different threads, then moving to PM's when you find people you click with. That allows you to get a feel for personalities and potential chat partners/friends to get to know you. From what I can tell, contributing to good discussions is how the vast majority of us meet like-minded people here.

If you do create comfortable a personal ad, I'd suggest expanding on who you are and what, specifically, you're looking for. Read through the ads that are currently there, and find at least one meaningful way to differentiate yourself from the others looking for "adult conversation" if you're looking for women.

I can see you're well intentioned but don't think you have to hide who you are and what you want. This is a website mostly dedicated to erotic chat, hence the name. I also wonder why you chose to post in the BDSM (Bondage/Dominance/Sadism/Masochism) section. What gives? Be upfront about yourself and you'll gain respect here, you might even find what you're really after. One of the upsides of having an anonymous username is that you can actually say what you think.
