Thundersnow

Definitely stay safe. According to the Wiki article, the thunder in thundersnow is a very short range phenomena. Stay indoors and out of the lightning.

Thanks, Rob.

It's so amazing.

True white-out conditions.

(The pictures aren't turning out, either.)

White outs are cool if you're indoors.

Getting caught outside in one is, interesting. Good thing I knew the rail yard like the back of my hand. :)

is very cool.

We have blizzard conditions in Kansas right now. Only 3-5 inches of snow expected, but at the rate it is snowing right now I can't believe that's all we're going to get.

Strong wind gusts, visibility is near zero at times, and now we're seeing lightning and hearing thunder. BOOM!

Very strange.

I saw that movie - The Day After Tomorrow?

I've experienced thundersnow once. It was one of the most amazing things. The thunder was muffled and the sky turned magenta and green as the lighting bolt worked its way across the sky. If I weren't driving in a near blizzard I probably would have just stood there watching.

Hope everything is okay there.

I've never seen thundersnow. They get it at O'Hare quite a bit but for some reason not where I live. ::sniff::

Woke up to the thunder this morning. It was a WTF? moment...

:)

But the song doesn't fit, really.

"I'm (THUNDER BOOM!) dreaming of a White (BLIZZARD WIND GUSTS) Christmas."

We've over four inches of snow and it's blowing and drifting. Maybe eight inches predicted.

I really love eight inches.

It's still exciting, and it'll be all calmed down by Christmas. I hope it's coming this way. The snow, not the thunder and lightning.

Thanks, Richard - I didn't really catch that when I skimmed the article. :rose:

But just a few moments ago I was on my cell phone with someone who lives about 5 miles away. At one point in the conversation she heard thunder, I did not. And then later I heard thunder and she did not.

Selective lightning strikes and probably very dangerous.

Truly an amazing weather condition.

Whoa - they just shut down the turnpike.

Is God pissed with Kansas or something?

Maybe He is threatening them if they don't throw the Orange Bowl.
