Where are places where GLBT people can feel comfortable in whatever clothes etc they like?

Some criteria:

Large enough population to be anonymous
Low risk of discrimation/ incidents
GLBT is something people are used to seeing around

I now nominate some of the more obvious ones, please list more:

Amsterdam
San Fransisco
London (around Soho-Chelsea)
New York City
Sydney (around Kings Cross)

Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota

The entire southern half of the state is quite open minded. The rural north tends to have more hicks.

Austin, TX (if you really have to be in TX, this is the place to be)

Actually Dallas is not bad anymore either. City even has a non-descrimination policy that covers GLBT people. Nice Gayberhood too.

if you can stand the snow up in maine, try portland. but don't go any further north than that, they tend to be really rascist to black people and homosexuals. It really pisses me off that people are so assholey about stuff like that.

Ogunquit and Old Orchard Beach are also very GLBT friendly, as are some of the midcoast towns like Camden and Belfast.

that list seems way off. Cincinnati is a republican stronghold and Dayton isn't much better and they had them near the top of the list and both were rated above columbus which is very liberal

Here is an interesting list: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/widgets/infographics/mostliberal.asp - I'm not sure I agree that DC is more liberal than 233 other cities, though.
I notice that #46 AND #47 is Jackson, Mississippi.

And having lived in a dozen of those cities, I can't agree with their relative ranking.

A clue may be that this comes from the center for voting research -- we may be looking at election results applied to somewhat subjective judgments about how politically liberal the candidates were.

Ann Arbor used to be. I suppose compared to other cities in Michigan it still is if you can stand the smug.

Is that smug, smog, or both? ;)

*evil grin* Well, it does tend to try present itself as the San Francisco of the Midwest, and I hear there's a lot of smog out there.

I did live in Ann Arbor for a while (or A2 as they like to call it). It's a nice enough town. Too rich for my blood though.
