Alright, I've gotta see some action around here. So I invented a thing. Here is this thing.
Beyond a basic gunfight, this Shootout at the OK Corral Challenge requires two teams of three poets each. One poet will volunteer to work in "form poetry", one in "free verse" and the third poet may choose any format.
The requirements for the poems will be announced once the volunteers have stepped up, and final "shots" will be fired at High Noon (Time Zone TBA) within 36 to 48 hours of the announcement of the topic. We'll see what sort of timing makes sense when we get there. Figure you'll have two days, at the absolute max. Maybe less.
I will choose the requirements, which may be a title, a subject, or something entirely else. I don't know who will judge this. Not good at figuring that out. Perhaps the mods have suggestions. (yeah, yeah, I know. I mean suggestions about the judging).
I know it's mixing periods, but our two teams will be the Hatfields and the Joads, mostly because it amuses me vastly to think about that. So step up. It'll be constructive activity and a little friendly competition and stuff like that.
I will root fiercely for you all in a very short cheerleader outfit. Or maybe a saloon girl thing. Whatever it takes.
