He lived appx 1810 BC – 1750 BC...he followed the same basic principles as Mosaic law, even in the way he wrote and the way he equated a penalty for a wrongdoing. A lot of what he wrote is echoes of Mosaic law...

Which made sense at the time...as well as the not eating pork...those were for health reasons...those were done away with in appx 35-40AD...via the vision Peter had, when God spoke to him and told him, if I made, I'm telling you it's cool to eat it...not verbatim, but cleared that up...
a good portion of those type laws, when given, were exactly for health reasons...as the moral laws were given to promote healthy family and community roles - not sleeping with your family, having one wife, etc...makes for a bit more harmony...

i'm not downplaying the significance of mosaic law to our legal tradition. obviously it's a very real influence. that part of the world, though, was a hotbed of written law during a three or four hundred year period, some of which preceded mosaic law.
