I'm not interested. But with the talk of change I think it's time to ask the question. Would a completely new direction improve things? I have nothing against Cat or M. But they have had it for a long time. And having been in that position I don't envy them at all.

I don't want the job and I have no complaints with how they're doing it.

If it ain't broke...

i haven't been here as long as many of you, but the time i've had has been made even more enjoyable by Cat's judicious postings, her keen observations and infinite patience and good-nature.

Why the hell would we want to change that?

Am i missing something here?

LOL - if there were to be a vote requested, I wonder how quickly Cat and/or Marquis would step down with a huge sigh of relief? As WD said, "I don't envy them at all."

What she said!

I know I would [step down].. if I were either of them. I have served as mod to several forums over the years, and still mod for another forum which doesn't see nearly half as much traffic, posts, and members.... so I speak from experience, (even if only half as much at present.. it has to count for something).

It's an unpaid position, and one of which offerings of thanks are far too limited , and of which offerings of negative comments/attitudes are far too numerous.

I'd challenge any to do even just half as good a job as either Marquis or Catalina. The hardest part of the job is keeping an unbiased and even temper and disposition toward everyone ... whether wanting to or not. I am constantly in awe of how they both manage to keep thier kewl toward those who deserve a lot less.

Is there anyone here who believe they can do a better job???

Having been a moderator on here in different forums several times, I know that it can take the fun out of posting. I have in fact resigned the last two times, because it wasn't fun to visit Lit anymore, and I need it to be fun.

I'm a mod on another forum and I know it can be a lot of work. I'm happy with who we have and am very grateful they are willing to take the responsibility.

Interestingly enough everyone who's SAID anything, doesn't want new mods, but their's an equal number of votes for them to step down. If you don't like them, please have the courage to say something.

I don't see why this is necessary.

And it comes with the territory really. If you do anything you are going to piss half the people off. 50/50 will get you in the White House. Now if it was 80% or 90% then yeah, they might want to step down.

oh my : chuckles :

Voted No, I don't want to log into Lit and get old Fun Boy Three lyrics stuck in my head each time I do ...........

I say we bump up their salaries by adding an extra 0 to the end while we are at it.

M'kay

I officially deem this as a fluff thread. By the powers vested in me as the Official Literotica Fluff-Fairy I hereby proclaim that this thread is seriously full of shit.

Because it's cowardly to call for someone to step down and not express your reasons for that call. Got a problem with someone? Have the intestinal fortitude to admit it, then tell them about it, and give them a chance to either defend their actions or make a correction.

This anonymous shit is feeble. Anonymous voting is a plus, but anonymously registering negative opinions? Weak.

Yeah, I voted "yes." I think we should vote on new ones because if it is so close a lot of people are unhappy and something is going on. And maybe people don't want speak their opinion because when other people speak their opinion that goes against what certain people are looking for in a reply; it gets ugly and usually an arguing starts. Some people would whether keep their opinion to themselves than have it turned into a pissing contest, like it always does.

Ever wonder why I don't post in any of the the serious threads?

I think they're doing fine. Honestly I think people make too many demands on posters who moderate AS moderators, or get all nutty about it. I can totally separate cat-as-poster from cat-as-killer-of-spam

And frankly I think both these guys have a light hand in moderating. I do not like the idea of a lets be nicer police and I don't think we have one.

Homburg...I am one of the people that voted yes. I like Catalina. I agree with her on A LOT of topics/issues. I don't know Marquis from a can of paint with the exception of the one thread he posted about his personal life months ago.

I voted yes for exactly the reason the WriterDom gave. They have had the position for a long time and perhaps it is time to give someone else a chance to take over for a while.

I have no problem with them. There is nothing for them to defend or correct. I am just of the mind that "fresh meat" is not always a bad thing.

Thanks for the support Netzach and everyone else. It means more than you can imagine and has touched me in a nice way.:rose: Yeah I know...you all know I just like being touched.:D But seriously, it is nice to know not everyone is unhappy.

Catalina:catroar:

Hey, I don't have a problem with people voting yes or calling for a vote of confidence. I'm just of the opinion that you should own your opinions.

Personally, the moderation here is freakin' awesome. How many complaints do you see that are based on actual specific trespasses against Litsters? What happened to "If it ain't broke, why fix it?". Spam is removed quickly, posts in the wrong forum are bounced to their proper places, and I rarely see evidence of Marquis or Cat editting people's posts or censoring anyone.

this place has a serious free speech policy. this rather pointedly requires the sort of laissez faire moderation that we see from our current mods. It's also the mod style that I use on the boards I mod. Fuck, I hate it when a mod steps up and squelches dicussion because someone might be offended. Fuck that. Offend. It is my right to not read you, and yours to not read me. Anyone that goes beyond that is acting counter to free speech and thus counter to the core attitude of Lit. No thanks, do no want.

I'm not going to kiss Marquis or Cat on the ass. Not interested, but I am going to give them credit where it is due. They don't fuck with the boards, and that is what we need. I don't personally see a reason to oust them when they aren't doing something wrong.

If they are being abusive, indict em. If not, let em continue to do the good work they're doing.

To all of you who call me or those like me cowardly...

I voted yes, and I said so.

I want The 3 Stooges and also, there was no "I don't give a shit" option.

But on a side note: I think things are fine as they are. Like Netz said and I agree, I like the light-handedness of the mods we have now. I don't see anything broken so I see no need fixing anything.

okay, barring The 3 Stooges, I'll go for Groucho, Chico and Harpo...

Chaplin won't work because he has no real side-kick.
