Hey all,

I have a stanza that I need to translate, but I don't speak a lick of German. Can anyone help me out? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Here's the stanza. I would appreciate any help, Orgasmic.

lol I wasn't expecting that,

did somebody tattoo you when you were drunk for a laugh?!!!

I can't really read the text properly,

leave it with me

I think it says

Raemmer

Es war ein langer krieg
Es war ein harter krieg

that means "it was a long war, it was a hard war"

Ihr habt tapfer und stolz fur euer Baterland Getampft

you (collective) have bravery and pride for thine (can't work out those last two words)

the next two lines are difficult due to the reflection

it says something like

you are a special group
you have found a special coherance/togetherness

"wie er fluss nur ins kampf enwickeln(sp?) kann"

"how he can fight in the river" is as much as I can get from that

You fought hard and proud for your fatherland......

would be the proper translation. ;)

Guess i'm a bit late with that, but here's the full translation....

It was a long war.
It was a hard war.
You've fought brave and proud
for your fatherland.
You are a special group
which formed a close connection
only possible among people sharing a fight.
Our companions, who supported one another
in moments of horror,
who together saw the death
and shared the pain....
I'm proud for having served with you.
You all deserve a long and happy life in peace!

;)

I'm German. Hope that is not your back. Just wonder who writes such thing on his back if not totaly frunk and can't understand the words. Ok, I forgot, there are also a lot of people having Chinese characters as a tatoo and have no clue of the meaning.

But regarding German History and the fact that it is also written in old German letters I hope the person does not want to express his bond with the nazi regime...
