I just had the interesting experience of not only seeing as one-bomb land, but of knowing who gave it. (100% confidence level for both.) Okay, TBH, it wasn’t a monumentally epic work, but all the same, “I finally have you pinned, you little &#@r/,,!.”

But, hey, it might have been a legit rejection…

No, it wasn’t that bad.

Yes, really. It was pretty sad, what you submitted, tp.

Sod that, he’s a &¥?$,

Anyway, I’m letting my conscience and my id duke it out in a closed room. Meanwhile, I’m passing the time imagining my ‘friend’ quivering in front of a CSM I once loved, feared and admired. “You call that a fair vote, do you? You horrible little man! I’ve scraped better replies out of the cookhouse greasepits! Don’t you dare roll your eyes at me, you withered excuse for a critic! Get those shoulders back when I’m talking to you!”

And the world is a better place, somehow...

So, you gonna reveal who your 1-bomber is? Otherwise, I'm not sure what this thread was meant to achieve.

Venting?

Although I can't for the life of me figure out how you can possibly know who it was that gave you a 1*.

TP, that's really very fucking shitty that you know who your clownoid in the silly big shoes is, yet they still go glory fuck themselves over your story. That's so utterly tedious, and annoying. It would be nice if people acted like their shoe size, not their IQ.

That's nothing. I know at least two people here in the AH that have bombed my entire catalog never even reading my stories. I know their names.

I'm interested in how you'd know if they didn't tell you themselves. I guess you can see who is around the forums at the exaxt time the bomb lands, but is there another 'tell' I'm missing?

The last time I knew for sure who was bombing me, I made a thread about it and called them out publicly. There was a lot of drama involved.

But the best part of it is that it revealed who AHers are, deep down, and what their priorities are. It told me more about the people here than I was able to learn in the whole year prior to the events.
There is a saying here: It doesn't snow to cover the hill but to reveal all the tracks.

You people are too timid.

Call them out, I say. Give them a chance to explain their reason for giving you 1*.

My interpretation of how most readers vote:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I like the story; I like the author; I want to encourage the author; this is a default vote

⭐⭐⭐⭐
I want to be encouraging but there were some issues; I don't really like the story/the subject matter/the author, but I don't want to be nasty about it

⭐⭐⭐
I want to express my dislike for the story/the subject matter/the author, and I want my dislike to last beyond the next sweep

⭐⭐
I want to express my dislike for the story/the subject matter/the author, I want my dislike to last beyond the next sweep, but it's more important to have an immediate impact

⭐
I hate the story/the subject matter/the author/myself/life in general, and I want to hurt someone here and now

(Yes, this is largely tongue in cheek, though not entirely.)

I don't know how one would know for certain who is doing the bombing. I've been bombed, although I've never observed a clear pattern of bombing multiple stories at the same time and I've never, ever had any clue who might be doing the bombing.

It's a scumbag thing to do, IMO.
