Agreed, cut off the supply and provide treatment. Unfortunately for many jail is the first stop before treatment.

Street price for Fentanyl has doubled over the past 10 months. It hasn't been determined whether that is due to supply being choked or just inflation. The Feds are hopeful that it's supply being choked off, hopeful being the operative word there. That is not necessarily good news in the short term. As the price increases the seriously addicted are going to engage in riskier behavior to get the money for their habit.

Actually it isn't. Those boats are not going directly to the US. They are going to intermediate trans-shipment points, mostly in Mexico for US market. Other destinations for European destinations. There is no argument that the US Southern border isn't the primary entrance.
