Details of the 2023 Bill (H.R. 2)
  • House Passage: The U.S. House of Representatives passed the "Secure the Border Act" (H.R. 2) on May 11, 2023, with a largely party-line vote of 219-213.
  • Key Provisions: The bill aimed to make it tougher for immigrants to claim asylum, increase Border Patrol agents, provide new funding for a border wall, and implement mandatory E-Verify for employers.
  • Schumer's Stance: Senator Schumer rejected calls to take up H.R. 2, calling it "political theater" not designed to solve the problem. The bill was considered "dead on arrival" in the Democratic-controlled Senate and President Biden vowed to veto it had it reached his desk.
Scumbag Schumer refused to take up the bill. Just like scumbag Schumer shut down the government.

Schumer's an expert at political theater.

The. House. MAGAt. Republicans. Froze. The. Democrats. Out. Of. The. Drafting. Of. The. House. Immigration. Bill.

Search assist

Republicans largely excluded Democrats from the drafting process of the 2023 immigration bill, leading to a partisan divide that hindered bipartisan support. This approach reflects a broader trend of increasing polarization in U.S. politics regarding immigration reform.

The bill lacked democrat support at every level, republicans knew that from the start. They passed it and sent the bill to the senate. Schumer could have brought up for an up and down vote.

The bill was stopped by the candidate for President.

It had support to pass

The bill past the house, it went to the senate and was never brought up for a up and down vote. I don't care what Trump said at the time.
The candidate for President stopped the bill
If you pretend not to care, it's not a sincere argument about the bill

Democrats wanted to tie the bill up in legislative gobbledygook. Republicans knew that, voted on it without democrat support. What does that have to do with Schumer not brining it up for a vote.

I read the bill and the bill was a good bill, better than the senate bill. Schumer refused to bring it up for a vote because it would have forced democrats senators to vote on the record for issues of badly needed border security, asylum reform, stopping an invasion of our borders, controlling catch and release. Schumer killed it, Trump wasn't a factor.

That's not why he didn't bring the bill up for a vote.

Trump killed the bill.

Schumer understood it wasn't worth voting on because he lost support from the candidate's minions.

Schumer was acting like a partisan hack, the very accusation he used against the house. I agree the bill didn't have the votes in the senate to pass but republican senators should have had an opportunity for an up or down vote., many requested the vote.

Trump had nothing to do with HR-2

He knew the vote was doa.
Because of the Prez candidate.

Trump had nothing to do with HR-2
Lie.

Every single news story on the bill reflects reality that you're lying about. Pick any source.

Trump didn't like the senate bill and urged
republican senators to vote against the senate bill.

HR-2 was the house bill.

Trump is now pretty much enacting HR-2.

Trump couldn't kill the filibuster. Looks like Trump's losing his hold on the party in Congress . . .

Let senators vote for the record.
You are well aware how Senate votes work.

Not the house bill.
It was the vote on the house bill.

He killed the bill

HR-2 was the house bill.
Yep

Trump is now pretty much enacting HR-2.
He is not.

There is no immigration legislation being proposed.
