Venezuela

Simple, boots on the ground mean potential lost lives on our side no matter how excellently the op is planned. Not to mention that it requires our forces to invade foreign soil.

Stupid to do that when a kinetic strike at sea in international waters is clean and risks no US lives.

whatever happened to the petey hedgehog wanted the men and women of the millitary the army the navy and the marines to be tough

Tough doesn't mean stupid.

Unless you're a jock in High School.

The military spends a lot of time/money training its personnel. They aren't going to waste them without need (think D-Day and or Iwo Jima/Guadal Canal for this) and Venezuela isn't even close to that requirement.

So save your dum assed snark for things that matter because this doesn't.

It's no secret that the name of the game is regime change, Maduro has been given NO alternatives. Ironic that Iran has offered him sanctuary but his good buddies Russia and China haven't.

So why all the military power? Well, Venezuela's duly elected president, Edmundo Gonzalez, will be installed and he will immediately request US aid in cleaning out Maduro's buddies in the government, military, and police. The US will provide a stabilizing entity until Gonzalez can form his new government and effectively establish control. What follows from there is most likely a long an profitable relationship between both nations.

It’s very noticeable how in this discussion of us military activity in the Caribbean and South America there’s no mention of the resignation of Alvin Holsey.

Lots of red meat and praise for hegseth, your very own knight templar and a man reputed to order that survivors be terminated. It’s become a common feature of this administration to collectively ignore the rule of law, though it is necessary for the policies being advanced.

And how ironic that it’s a person of colour who realises the futility of that approach and is prepared to act accordingly.

A lesson in ethical behaviour that will no doubt be shot down.

Because it's of no particular significance.

It goes so well when we wipe out the old regime and install our own corrupted government. Fuck, you're too old to be this stupid.

Trump has no desire to stop drugs flowing into the US.

The US has a long history of ... changing things for the ... better in South America. I'm pretty sure Donald Trump has only good things to say about Operation Condor, and who needs the desaparecidos anyway? They were all drug smugglers or liberal socialists or drug smuggling socialist liberals. Or worse: democrats.

Trump's no Ollie North!

The claim that Maduro “won” in 2024 is built entirely on a state-controlled tally with no transparency, no audit, and no accountability, while independent evidence overwhelmingly contradicts it. This isn’t a case of a “close call.” It’s one of the clearest contemporary examples of electoral theft in modern Latin America. Deposing Maduro would be an example of "changing things for the better."

Election fraud isn't something you should ever speak of again.

Non one in the region questions the fact that Gonzalez won the election with over 60% of the vote, NO ONE (except Maduro of course).

But the usual crowd has shown up changing the subject and spewing shit.

It's called the Monroe Doctrine dumb fuck.

Yes, nobody claims Venezuela has fair elections.

Is Donnie going to start wars with all of the authoritarian leaders who rig elections? Starting with your idol Putin and Donnie’s best buddy Orban?

The attacks on Venezuela have nothing to do with elections or drugs.

So let me get this straight. The booted out media has been breaking stories about the boat bombings that has the WH in absolute chaos and throwing an Admiral under the bus while these posers take selfies at their desks?

These are not serious people.
