The "I don't want to talk about AI" thread, and the new topic is: Raquel Welch, fur bikini optional

Raquel…and Sophia…and Marilyn…and Gina. Nope, they don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

And I don't mind that. I realize this is sacrilege and I may well have my "man card" revoked, but I find "sultry" offputting. Pretty and self-effacing, smart, witty, and relatable is my strong preference. Julia Roberts is a good example. Creative and playful translates to... uh... other things.

My wife and I seem to be the only people in the world who don't think she's beautiful. I've seen mannequins in shop windows that did more for me.
I was with you until I saw Pretty Woman. She is still not a knockout to me (she looks too much like her brother) but I at least get the attraction now.

Okay, so my biases are based on a bigger picture than model beautiful. I get back to "relatable". Roberts is a hoot as a late-night interviewee, and I appreciate the wit and humor. I probably wouldn't hang a poster of her on a wall, although her in that red dress in Pretty Woman is a keeper.

I'm wracking my brain trying to think of other celebrity women who meet the objectifying standard assigned to the Italian beauties and are smart and, again, relatable. The ones that do or did well in late-night talk show banter. Natalie Portman comes to mind; she's more cute than beautiful, but, oh, is she edgy. Gwyneth Paltrow... nice to look at, smart in an eccentric way, but not really relatable.

Ladies, I have to apologize for the direction this chat has turned. They started it! 😞

I liked her a lot in my best friends wedding, where she plays against type. She's a good comic actress.

One of my male friends described her and Sandra Bullock (also a good comedic actress) as "approachably pretty".
His premise is that they are both attractive women, but in a way that suggests they are approachable, if you ran into a woman who looked like that somewhere you might have a shot, and even if she says no, she looks like the type that would let you down easy.

On the other hand Monica Belucci might talk to you, might gut you like a fish...

Seemed like reasonable premise to me.

Eva Green. Scarlett Johansson can be an absolute hoot. I'd describe Emma Stone as cute before beautiful, though she's both, and she's quite smart too.
