The inspiration for this topic came from @iwatchus 's thread.

What is your idea of how the AH sees you? Do you think you're one who fits in, who gets along with most people, or do you believe you are the odd one?

Do you think you bring positive or negative energy to the forum?

Finally, does it matter to you how the AH sees you? Does it bother you?

The topic is meant to be a tiny bit provocative, but it's mostly about matching our views of individual AH-ers with their idea of how they are perceived here. So, who wants to play?

"Who the fuck is this guy?"

Do you think you bring positive or negative energy to the forum?

Where does a combination of humor + "burn it all" fall in the spectrum between the two?

Finally, does it matter to you how the AH sees you? Does it bother you?

Fuck no x 2

I take it this is a joke, right? Written communication is so tricky!!!

Well, you saw his post so I guess you aren't part of that population.

Wait, I saw it too, so that makes at least two of us.

How... serendipitous!!! I've had a similar post sitting in my drafts folder for some time. And yes, @iwatchus's thread reminded me of it just this morning. Eager to see what others say.

One of the most delightful things that happens to me in AH is when someone actually tells me how they see me, delightful when it's accurate and interesting (and, not actually delightful) when it's not. But that's a pretty rare event. I do wonder now and again how people see me. I don't have a good picture of that except that a number probably see me as a poster of new threads. But as to my personhood, it's a mystery. Especially since I've been really, really open about my erotic life, although not about other aspects.

That may be because I rarely DM people. I've struck up some rewarding acquaintances, but I mostly come to discussion boards for the ideas, not for the relationships.

I sure hope I bring positive energy. I have almost nothing but positive feelings about AH, but I'm not always perceived that way.
Finally, does it matter to you how the AH sees you?
It matters a lot as a point of curiosity (see above). It matters when I stumble upon a person here and there who seems to understand me. It matters not at all emotionally when I get negative feedback. I just figure if that's what they think they're too ignorant for me to worry about. :)
Does it bother you?
Nope. See above.

Doesn't feel even a tiny bit provocative. I love it. Thanks!

Fucked up.
Do you think you're one who fits in, who gets along with most people, or do you believe you are the odd one?
I generally get along with people because I don't judge and take things on a pretty individual level. How someone acts with one person doesn't color how they act with me, basically. But I also think many people tend to not like me because I'm not easily manipulated.
Do you think you bring positive or negative energy to the forum?
Neutral.
Finally, does it matter to you how the AH sees you? Does it bother you?
Nope.

Then those poor bastards will never know a good duck joke or how to make their eggs fluffy. Serves them right.
You make fluffy duck eggs? You make ducks tell jokes?

Above is part of my answer. I'm sure I'm perceived as a mediocre-to-bad writer who tells lots of jokes. (No, not fishing for compliments.)

You guys suck at this.

The AH is both small and large enough so that there are always new people and perspectives, but also that most people here have interacted with each other more than once. I am certain we all have opinions on many AH-ers.

Anyway, I'll go to break the ice.
I'd say that a good deal of regular AH-ers see me as a contrarian and arrogant. Likely annoying and ungrateful towards Lit, too. But I also think most see me as honest in my opinions. I think I've proven that much, at least.

The only aspect I've no idea about is how they see my writing. It's to be expected, I suppose, because there are few, if any, people here who like the same kind of stories as I do. Annoyingly, that's the opinion I'm most interested in. 🫤

I'm the annoying new guy. I talk too much, I overshare, my posts are too long, I use too many archaic words, and my sentences are too long.

I'm just not irritating enough to block - yet.

On a more serious note: I have no damn idea what anyone here thinks of me. No offense but I haven't really been here long enough to care that much either.

I try to bring positive energy. I know I joke around a lot, but I try to be serious when there's a call for it.

Half is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but I suspect that plenty of people get fed up of my presence here. I'd rather they put me on Ignore than get annoyed at me all the time.
I'm still trying to figure out if you're honest here or just joking. Anyway, it's highly unlikely that there are more than just a few AH-ers who have you on ignore. You're certainly not the type that goes on ignore.

Our interactions have been sparse, but from what I've seen of your comments, you come across as realistic with an actual interest in improving things here, not necessarily simply for yourself, but for the site as a whole. I think a lot of your observations and thoughts are interesting even if they would be impossible or difficult to implement. You seem genuine and your complaints seem to come from an interest in seeing the site excel rather than limp along.

I don't always agree with your ideas and think many are overreaching, but I also don't think you make them from a place of arrogance or ungratefulness, just the opposite.

Love the honesty. I'd also say that you are delightfully fucked up, same as most of us. ;)

I always try to bring positive energy to whatever space I'm in, whether it's AH or somewhere else online or in real life. I like the feeling of being helpful, and I like how it feels to make other people happy.

I care way too much about written tone, and I go back and edit my own posts much too often because I want to make sure that I'm being received the way that I intended.

I think most people like me well enough, but I also know that I rub a few people the wrong way... I have a strong desire to be liked, but I have a stronger desire to be be consistent in my values 🤣

I think I'm liked by some people who dislike each other, which can be really tricky sometimes... I love drama but I hate causing drama 😅

I grew up posting on tumblr so I have to work really hard sometimes to not let myself fall into the "Someone Is Wrong On The Internet," trap, and I don't always succeed.

Voice outside frame: Are you coming to bed? Character typing at a computer: I can't. This is important. Voice: What? Cueball: Someone is WRONG on the Internet.

I'm seen as a bit of a troll.

I don't think I fit in with the majority here, just the ones who also roll their eyes at the ones desperate to be popular

I bring both, I do what I can to help others, especially if they're newish. But I also call BS and don't entertain their delusions of grandeur

No, if people like me, fine, if not, also fine. The way I am here is how I am in real life. If I amuse myself, that's enough.

Funny timing for this thread because the other day someone here hit the nail on the head as far as how I'm perceived here when they told someone "There is no social cost to attacking LC" as in I'm not part of a group that will come running in to attack anyone ragging on me.

Pretty realistic, but somewhat incomplete. I think it's mostly the forcefulness and sometimes the abrasiveness with which you express your opinions that bothers some people here, rather than the opinion itself. I'd also wager that no one here thinks of you as anything less than honest.
