What is the best story you have read that was published in 2025 by someone who frequents the Authors’ Hangout?

No it can’t be your own story!!! Even if - as is obviously true - you are the greatest writer Literotica has ever seen.

I’ve been more focused on writing of late and had little time to read here. But the irrepressible talent that is @PennyThompson has to get my vote with Mothman Is Real, He’s My Boyfriend.

Why? Artfully written by someone who makes a virtue of simplicity, but isn’t afraid to throw in recondite words when appropriate. Characters you connect with and feel empathy for. Weird non-human sex made to feel familiar and sweet. Just a teaspoon of humor. And overall wholesome, consensual erotica, featuring people being nice to each other, and with a strong beating heart.
Damselfly - by Onehitwanda

The Woman in the Spare Room - by Redgarters

Love is a place ch 4&5, and Twenty - by THBGato

The Shape of her name ch1-6 - by Beneathherbraid

There no way to choose only one.

They don't post often, but joined up here earlier this year.

I've read several stories by HannahBaird and they are excellent.

Disclaimer, her stories aren't for everyone, she's delightfully demented.

I need to mention The Story of Nix by @EmilyMiller here. It's in many ways a great piece of writing, juggling themes relevant to today, well paced and with an interesting storyline. It's absolutely one of the very best things I've read here this year. Better than a lot of mainstream stuff I've read as well.
OMG thank you - that means the world to me ❤️

Redgarters, I will second your comments. I fell in love with Nix nearly immediately and waited each morning for @EmilyMiller to release the next part.
A well written and conceived novel that took me through a journey like none in a long time have.

I came across Hannah on Reddit first, she's an absolutely amazing person!

“But nay: the praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.”

I've been sitting on the fence about mentioning this story myself only because most people are aware I'm good friends with @EmilyMiller and I'm sure some would consider whatever praise i heaped on this story mere flattery or that there was an agenda on my end to promote a friend's work.

But the truth is it's a great freaking story and the comments section on it speaks to that fact and that its not just "the usual suspects" saying so.

Emily worked her ass off on Nix, and it shows. Start to finish a captivating and entertaining tale filled with action, heart and humor.

😘👍

This is how the AH can be really amazing. In some threads, heads are being ripped off and the blood is flowing freely, and in others, people are shyly talking about work by peers that they really, really like. You (arguably) can’t have the light without the shade.

I’m going to update my recommendations by adding a story in a very unexpected category, Taboo / Incest. But @Actingup elevated the often formulaic genre to a different level in Memories of Sandy. I cried.
Aww... thanks Frances - I really appreciate that. Readers have responded well to that one - I was worried that the narrator was too wooden/stilted, and I found it a difficult tone to try and get right given the T/I etc, but it worked and I'm quite chuffed about that :)

The narrator had an authentic and distinctive voice, which wasn’t wooden at all and somehow fit the overall mood and theme.

OMG here it is! It's the thread I've been wishing to see! I've wanted a thread where we gush all over each other. We have so many where we debate or where people tear others down. I wanted one where we could gush all over each other. I mean, this one is over stories, it's true, and I was thinking of the people themselves, but still. It's what I've been craving.

In the spirit of the thread, I nominate @Erozetta 's Collars and Cravings because, damn.
