The "I don't want to talk about AI" thread, and the new topic is: up for grabs!

@your_reverie_to_keep reached out to me with a request to do an audio version of a letter I wrote a while back. They showed me the file options yesterday and my god did they knock it out of the park. They hit every emotional beat with zero input from me. It was awesome to hear someone actually *understand* what was behind the words. Both versions showed to me were phenomenal.

They've submitted it here and I am really looking forward to seeing it go up. They're going to be one to listen to for audios for sure!

Is the topic itself up for grabs or are we discussing things that are up for grabs? If the latter, what's up for grabs because I want to know if I should be putting in for something good. Maybe a gently used ottoman or nice set of kitchen knives?

The other day at the grocery store I saw an older man and a young child, wearing blue rubber gloves as they shopped, but no mask. I still don't get why they were going to the trouble to glove up but not mask up.

It does seem you would do both. I usually see it the other way around. Masked, no gloves.

I dunno - you can somewhat easily avoid people from breathing on you (assuming the place isn't packed) but it'd be impossible to shop in a store and not touch a thousand items that a thousand germy people before you touched.

I'm not a germophobe and don't do that, but I get it.

We used to each at a buffet that started requiring vinyl gloves during covid. After that they made them optional but we still used them because I'd never considered how many people had touched all the utensils before me every time before that.

I know people who have become so hyper sensitive to some oils that they wear gloves when going out in public.

Some nut allergies are that bad too.

Oooh, that makes so much sense. If that's the case I wonder if it was both of them, or if one of them was just doing it to show solidarity with the other.
