Is there a way to fight discrimination without encouraging more identity politics?

More and more I'm convinced that focusing on group identities is a bad thing. It divides us. But, of course, people work their ill will on groups (Blacks, trans people, fat people), and must be opposed. Is there a way to oppose discrimination without intensifying the identities of the victimized groups? Can we insist on fair treatment for all without focusing on the particular people who are being unfairly treated? I'd really like to find a way, but haven't yet.

Pretty hard to do when one party generally embraces other races and cultures while the other is trying to deport brown skinned American citizens.

Look at, and treat people, as people first. No race, no identity, no gender, no country of origin.

Human beings first. Just like you.

Getting the vaccine was free per Obamacare, youā€™re welcome magats, and the Bridge Access Program also was a taxpayer funded write off plan that allowed for free vaccination as well. Dollars to donuts this shit memberā€™s loved one falls in one of those categories the op is referring to and has received some kind of subsidy support from taxpayers to keep their good health.

I tend to focus on the bigots and their behaviors. It might not work, but bigotry should be called out, exposed and shamed.

Unfortunately, some bigots wear their bigotry with pride.

Interesting question.

It seems to me that fighting discrimination is intrinsically political and requires identifying who is being discriminated against and by whom to address the issue.

It typically comes down to ā€œus vs. themā€ which is, by definition about identity.
