Is there a way to find out when a story was last edited?

I don't know the answer to your question, but are you perhaps asking because your submitted edit wasn't incorporated?
I'm asking because I can't remember if I submitted it, and the changes are too minor and made too long ago for me to compare texts.

I've just checked the date of a story I know I edited, after receiving a comment from someone who knew the detail. The story still shows the first submission date, so on that basis, an edit date doesn't show in the dataset.
And yet another change to ask of Manu....

I would have thought you'd know when you edit a story. I know you often tweak a story to get the perfect sentence, and that's fine on your own copy. But once something's been published, I reckon you need to think about the burden on the site, asking for too many edits.

I'm puzzled about the amount of effort folk put into constantly futzing with the same story, as if they think it's so worth it. Far better to write another story, I reckon, then you've got another story. It's a writer's indulgence I suppose - readers aren't going to know or care what micro-changes you're making.

Precisely why I can't remember if I made the edit. I've made a bunch on my local copy, but have never re-submitted any stories that I can remember for sure, for the reason you stated. I MAY have submitted one. As I said above, the changes are too small to make it practical to just compare copies.

As I've said, I've never yet submitted an edit. I'm planning to submit some edits in order to change my tags.

That's a legit reason. The reason that most people submit edits is because they rushed in the first place and didn't take enough time to edit their content, the best way they could.

Your inclination to seek the perfect sentence is a bit different, but it's good to know you're not clagging up the system!
