If you are having a lengthy delay in publishing, please add the name of your story and when submitted here.

I don't want to start another long AI convo here, but I'll just say that AI, at its best, is a mediocre writer.
The trouble is that you don't need quality writing to become successful. Just look at the most popular books. There are so, so many readers who are quite happy to read slop as long as it hits their tropes, or kinks in the case of Lit.

I suspect that if Laurel were to make an experiment and start publishing AI-generated stories with popular tropes and kinks under one pen name, the number of followers of that author would quickly skyrocket.

No, that is not the trouble. The trouble is that too many authors think they know better what people should read than the people doing the reading.

Of course people are going to favor story quality over writing quality. Once they get out of English class, nobody reads stories for the technical merits. They either read for entertainment or information, but content is more important than presentation in both cases. Sure, a good story line can't save every story, as some are just too poorly written, but good writing will never save a bad story line. There's simply no point in reading it.

Come on. A 12 inch cock to the son and a DD boob size to the mom on the back seat of the car will get so many views, regardless how dumb the story is or how bad the writing is.
It is about the tropes and the kinks

That's not really what I said. When I said "quality writing," I didn't talk about something that's just well written. I also put storytelling above writing well. But storytelling isn't just content. It's creating interesting and relatable characters, it's creating an interesting and believable plot, building the world, getting the pacing right...

There are plenty of popular books that are lacking in the sense of the things mentioned above, while hitting the right spots with the themes that people like to read about.
Sure, there are plenty of cases where a popular author is also a good storyteller, and to be fair, those books do seem to do better in general, but there are also cases where the author is popular based solely on the content and themes, especially if their output is fast and reliable.

On the topic of an AI voice reading your story back to you, I regularly use "@voice" on my phone to read my story back, just for the sake of sanity.

FWIW, I've had my 50th submission trying to be published since 9/14, with the latest, unchanged submission in queue since 10/27. Like everyone else, all I'm hearing is crickets.

Hi all, been reading these comments for a while now. I’ve had a couple of stories sitting for nearly two weeks in Pending (after another two weeks on top of that as I resubmitted them already). Two days ago, I dropped in another bunch of stories (basically all that I had finished writing with no idea / hope as to when they would be published, if at all). Just saw that one will be published today. Not sure why that one was selected as it is part of a new series, not the continuation of a couple of existing one but at least something is still working behind the scenes…

Congratulations on a small victory! Hope the others break free of the logjam soon.

Yay …. Progress!

A further data point (and not trying to upset those who are stuck, I was too with one story):

I submitted my final Literotica story this morning and it’s approved for publishing tomorrow.

This is actually quicker than normal. It’s like some submissions have sped up and others ground to a halt.

I had followed the advice and submitted Chapter 1 after deleting it, and it was published. Now, I have been trying to publish Chapter 2 for a month. I have deleted and resubmitted afresh 4 times now. The last one was submitted on Nov 2. I am now giving up on the chapter ever being published. It's a shame, as I now have Chapter 3 ready

Try just leaving it for a few weeks.

The 2+ months of purgatory for my how to have finally come to an end. It got approved and posted sometime overnight. I had tried the delete and resubmit twice (after 3_ weeks each time).Last night I sent a note to Laurel (another 3 weeks after my last delete/submit). This morning it was posted!

After months of waiting, resubmitting it four times, and getting no response at all since August 23, my story The Shadow of Valentir was rejected today because of alleged AI usage. I wrote this story in Dutch fourteen years ago, and spent a very long time translating it. I did resubmit it, adding a note asking them to point out exactly where they think I used AI. But if they reject it again, I’m honestly done with this nonsense. Because it makes no sense at all. If I wanted to use AI to write my stories, I wouldn’t need to publish them. I could just read them. So, yes… very disappointing.

Sorry to hear 😢
