It's almost enough to make you think someone can leave Lit for a little while without making a thread about it.

I kinda think there's a bit of narcissism in what we do or we wouldn't fret so much over the petty details like votes and views and supposed uno-bombers and publishing delays or how Laurel and Manu run a free site by themselves. In the grand scheme, we're not near as important as we like to think we are.

To some extent you have to believe that your words have value, that they are worth someone else's time to read. But if you need the approbation of others to enjoy your hobby, you really ought to think about that for awhile.

I've been lucky in that my dad taught me things like, 'Other people's opinions of me are none of my business.' and 'The only things I truly own are my integrity and my attitude.'

We may hold the copyrights to our works, but once we publish them, they belong to whomever reads them. I choose not to worry about the minutia. Not everyone was as lucky as I to have the dad I did.

I am lucky to have a great dad, and an awesome grandfather. Can't imagine not being able to share that big a part of myself with them.

Is this apropos of anything? I remember a few threads discussing alternatives to Lit, as well as a German fellow basically throwing in the towel when in comes to publishing here in their native language, but I'm a little confused why you would take issue with any of it.

If there is somewhere that better suits someone's needs as a writer I 100% support them taking their business to that site. We just don't all need to know about it in some overly dramatic fashion.
