It’s time for the city’s business elite to stop sulking and sketch a path to stay relevant, according to Mark Kronfeld, a former BlackRock executive and a lifelong New Yorker.
“Is it a dystopian, post-apocalyptic environment because Mamdani has won? No,” he said.
Mamdani used the Wall Street derision channeled in his direction as the perfect foil, Kronfeld said.
Crypto billionaire Mike Novogratz isn’t shy about the need for outreach. “Once he’s the mayor, we’ve got to be sure he’s successful in keeping New York a thriving community,” he said. “He’s tapping into a message that’s real: that we’ve got a tale of two cities in the Dickensian sense, to a degree we haven’t seen since we’ve been alive, and can you address the affordability issue in creative ways without driving business out.”
He's an outsider who will by double digits.Mamdani was only able to squeak out a narrow win against an opponent as weak as Cuomo.
Not often enough.I think
He's not an antizionist.I think his antizionism hurt him badly.
The latest numbers I’ve seen show Mamdani winning with 50.4% of the vote. He's an outsider who will by double digits.

He's not an antizionist.
You're creating the problem that you're mad about.Welp, Zohran has yet to clearly denounce Hamas and call for them to disarm / cede power - and he is certainly bigot adjacent with his father’s anti-LGBTQ+ hate which Zohran has yet to address / denounce, so…
Mamdani is NOT some shining progressive light - beyond his bold (unrealistic?) promises.
And Mamdani is going to have a fuckton of help failing to deliver on his bold promises from the right wing powerbrokers and some centrists - especially in the chaotic economic environment that DonOld & the MAGAt republicans have created. Hell, DonOld has already promised to sabotage Mamdani & New York City.
Mamdani’s win could easily backfire on Democrats & progressives, as he is almost guaranteed to fail in his efforts to make New York City affordable for the masses - especially with DonOld & the MAGAt republicans in charge of the Federal Government (and Chuck Schumer, etc, are no staunch allies of Mamdani either).
And when Mamdani fails (if he fails), will the public place the blame for Mamdani failing on DonOld & the MAGAt republicans, or will the public conclude that Mamdani’s "progressive" ideas & approach to governing are to blame???
If the public concludes that Mamdani is to blame, then that could set the Democratic Party and progressivism back for decades. This is a big test for progressivism, and Mamdani is set up to fail. The only thing that might save Mamdani is a genuine populist progressive wave in 2026 that neuters DonOld & the MAGAt republicans - along with some wealthy progressives & progressive foreign business interests who see an opportunity with New York City.
We shall see.

And I, in turn, am heartened by the fact that Mamdani managed to get a majority of New Yorker votes in a three person field. You and your fellow toxic Islamophobes got a well deserved political punch in the nose last night.I’m heartened by the fact that in the middle of a historic Democratic blowout, Mamdani was only able to squeak out a narrow win against an opponent as weak as Cuomo. I think his antizionism hurt him badly.

Yes, yes, dooooom 'n glooooom.Welp, Zohran has yet to clearly denounce Hamas and call for them to disarm / cede power - and he is certainly bigot adjacent with his father’s anti-LGBTQ+ hate which Zohran has yet to address / denounce, so…

He already has his first test:I’m not “mad” about anything. And the “problem” was already present.
Mandani winning is no better or worse than if Coumo had won, imho (I honestly didn’t have a preference).
Both had / have baggage / liabilities; full stop.
I stand behind every word in my previous post. There is a very good chance that things end poorly for Mamdani (and New York City) - which will ultimately hurt the Democratic Party & the progressive movement in the long run.
The stakes are high, and Mamdani is playing a shaky hand.
We shall see.

Yes, yes, dooooom 'n glooooom.
*Checks Lazaran's name off the Mamdani "Doom 'n Gloom" checklist.
Three down, eight to go.
He literally proved my point.Yes, yes, dooooom 'n glooooom.

Three down, eight to go.
Has he even got a fucking name plate on his office door yet?
New York City, home of nearly one million Jews, held a referendum on Mamdani's lack of a position on Hamas, and the majority of the people (including a large plurality....possibly a majority of Jewish voters) took a look at the bigger picture and decided that Mamdani's position (or lack of a position) on Hamas didn't matter enough to make them want to change their vote. "The people have spoken".Welp, Zohran has yet to clearly denounce Hamas and call for them to disarm / cede power - and he is certainly bigot adjacent with his father’s anti-LGBTQ+ hate which Zohran has yet to address / denounce, so…

They planned for a 9 year old child to run for mayor?
Mamdani objectively won the NYC Mayoral election yesterday.
Being objective in the face of reality is NOT an appeal to “Doom ‘n Gloom” (but Rob has abandoned objectivity when it comes to anything even remotely related to Israel / Jews, so…)
It is what it is.
We shall see.

Not sure Rob ever had an objectivity.

Squeak out narrow win? He beat Cuomo by 9 percentage points.I’m heartened by the fact that in the middle of a historic Democratic blowout, Mamdani was only able to squeak out a narrow win against an opponent as weak as Cuomo. I think his antizionism hurt him badly.
