Jumping into the fire ... Should the entire Non-Con category be eliminated?

I really don't understand door dashing cheap food. If you are going to pay the door dash fees anyway at least get good food.

And I'm not saying that to attack anyone who likes Taco Bell, it's fine for what it is. Cheap, fast food. But once you add Door Dash into the equation it is neither cheap nor fast.

I agree 100%. I can't imagine paying 7 or 8 bucks for delivery and tip on a $10 meal. That's fucking crazy to me.

It's not just Taco Bell - literally every fast food place we go to is the same thing. The DoorDash people are easy to spot with their attitude laden scowls and phones they shove in the face of the employees

It drives me crazy that I can't go to Taco Bell without watching 5 people pick up DoorDash orders. Just go get your own fucking chalupa people!
Our Taco Bell puts the delivery service and online orders on the same rack, so you can't really tell who they're picking it up for.

The one we go to is in a shitty area and they have the orders on the back side of a sign telling you you need to beg the clerk for it so people don't steal the orders

Sorry, just to clarify I don't feel any need to do anything non consensual. What I meant by this was, I enjoy having control over my characters, it gives me some relief from my trauma.

I'm sorry if I offended you, I really didn't mean to get caught up in this debate. I know my writings are extremely dark and I apologize for that, I had hoped that someone could get some enjoyment out of my stories. Usually, the thread in my literature is about the abuse of power. I don't condone the abuse of power, I just point it out in my stories, hoping that someone might find something interesting in my stories.

I just don't think banning an entire genre of literature is right to do. I guess I am just an old fashioned free speech advocate, as long as you don't call for harm to a real person I think there should be no restrictions apart from underage restrictions which are already in place on the site.

I'm from Ireland, but I really value the free speech that my American friends have over there, I have always admired that about the US. I hope it is something that Ireland, and Europe more generally can learn from.

Anyway, I am sorry for getting involved, I was just trying to engage more with the community and didn't mean to get sucked into this debate.
You don't need to apologise. I have not been offended. I merely wanted to show concern. I inferred that it was therapy for your urges, which were wrong. If it's for your own trauma, I do not hold it against you to write NC. Especially as it is about the abuse of power. I would caution that some people might take the wrong lesson, but there is no stopping that (Amarican History X anyone?).

As stated in my first post, writing more deep themes at times means getting your hands dirty with taboo subjects. In addition, I have no problem if NC is not normalised or glorified.

Again, I'm not for banning a whole genre. Ignoring it exists does not make it go away. It should be handled with care.

Your argument is summarized as: "If we allow the N/C category, we normalize rape" (extremist reaction to a whole group as the worst case)

And your list of the pro-NC missed mine: Lifestyle66: "If it's 'normalizing' deviations', don't cherry-pick!" (Start a fight with EVERYONE who isn't you!)

As for your latest "someone eventually stands with an AR15 in a pizza place." I'd point out that someone will eventually stand with a knife on a train, too.

It's not the weapon or the even stories which make the tiny percent of the human cesspool do what they do. It's the fact that with over EIGHT BILLION people on this planet, it's not a matter of IF someone will do something weird, merely a matter of WHEN one of those minds will snap next.

The stories are not the trigger. They are an excuse.
Deliberately misreading posts is a true skill. My arguments are on a grey scale, while you try to make them black and white. I have repeatedly stated that I allow a certain type of NC.

I didn't miss yours. I placed every argument until the post I reacted to on a quick scan. Yours is after that post.

Weird things do happen. I have studied how to prevent them. Arguments "someone will find a way" or "the environment doesn't matter" just show ignorance. Stories aren't a trigger. They are just one piece that can push people to commit a crime.

Ok, so since opinions don't matter, and all those "deflections" are irrelevant, can you please share with the class your stance in one or two sentences on why NC should be banned but none of the other categories, or any of the other types of media that you mention?
Opinions do matter. I just can't argue against them. Your opinion is free. I respect that. Do you really want me to tell you what your opinion should be? I really don't know why you want me to argue against an opinion? "I think it's wrong" or "I think it's right" does not really do anything.

If you do not see my arguments in my posts, I suggest to read them again. If you still can't find them, that's on you.

You know, this argument has been used in court, and guess what, they still found the guy guilty. It turns out, the devil didn't make them do it, they were shitting enough to do it without the extra push that reading fiction may or may not have had.

One of the attorneys in my office hates going out for lunch, so his thing is to ask one of the staff. He calls it, "you fly, I'll buy". You go get lunch and he pays for yours too.
He got asked why he didn't just door dash or Uber eats. His answer was, "do you want those people alone with your food?"

This is why I know how to cook.

Mmm... puffy tacos....

Oh, wait are we still talking about food?
I often enjoy a puffy taco in the evening, and I particularly like mine with one protruding bean to start with.

My wife's away for the night, and I wonder where I might find another one. Taco that is. My wife usually cooks, while I handle the clean up when she makes a mess.

And @Husky_Embrace, I don't find the marching band in your living room as adequate motivation to kill your momma and pappa with an ax. But if you don't get those references, it's from a little paranormal incident back in the 70s that happened to a family living in the home of an ax murderer.

At one time, I used to troll the DoorDash sub on Reddit. It was like watching a train wreck - awful and yet you can't look away.

If any of you want to keep up with the latest fast food offerings and be weirdly, yet pleasantly entertained, look up thereportoftheweek on YouTube. It's the food brah. It's hard not to love him ❤️

Ha, I wouldn't know about that. But I've seen plenty of gross people addicted to it, well, crack. Sniff it fucks up your sinuses, makes you paranoid, and is a very short-term high.
Well, it might kill you but it isn't gross. It's pure, just like white chocolate.

I can't say I actually know anything about it either. It was just a fun excuse to reuse the white chocolate reference.

And rules changed accordingly to disallow non-con in all forms?

Nope. you're on a slippery road to hell once this starts.

What do you ban next? Anything racist? Good arguments to be made. Trans? Yep. likewise. Scat? loving Wives? Adultery is criminal. Gay? Lesbian?

Face it, erotica covers a wide and varied range and non-con is just one small part of it, but once you start banning categories, it makes banning the next one easier, and then the next, and you can make an argument to ban almost all of them, if not all of them, in the end.

That you don't like non-con or that in real life it's rape which in some countries and some circumstances is illegal is irrelevant (and remember that some of what we would define as rape is quite legal in some countries). There's a lot of countries where gay sex is illegal and the perps get tossed off buildings. Do we ban writing gay sex stories because of that? Ditto adultery. That'll get you stoned to death in some places. Do we ban that too? The list is long.....

The short answer is no.

The long answer os - what were you thinking when you brought this up?
