Well, this is curious...

Can you delete your own user account? Did they make one *just* to be able to comment on your story and then delete it to avoid leaving a trail?
 
I just received notice of a comment from "Deleted User" today, although the update indicates the comment was made four days ago. It was a negative comment.
 
Mine said this but I'm not sure what those dates correlate to because those comments weren't there before. The only comments that were there are the ones that are still there.

My best guess is that Manu is doing some general cleanup on the databases, and this is part of it. It's just odd, in my case, that the comments are so recent and still on the stories as Anonymous.

It's quite possible that the comment display itself displays as anonymous if the query for the user data returns nothing.

I think this is it, but that the glitch isn't in the comment view on the story.

Rather, I'm thinking they introduced a(nother) bug in the notification feed, where anonymous comments show as deleted because their commenter_id is 0 and the server-side fetch fails.

Has anyone seen an actual anonymous comment in their feed since the recent changes? I haven't.
 
I've seen something like that before, but 'deleted user' used to just display as anonymous on the feed. There were at least two instances where people had commented on my stories and then had their accounts closed, although in both cases the account closure was months later. I don't know if they asked for their accounts to be closed or if they did something to get kicked out; one of them had a few stories of their own that also vanished.
 
I believe these three were Anonymous when they came in, It just switched an hour ago, or so. I wouldn't be surprised if Anonymous got credit again. We all know what an attention Whore they are. LOL
 
To be honest, until these numbers finally get cleared:

I'd take anything displayed in the feed with an egg-sized grain of salt.
 
I've had one too. I'm fairly certain I know who sent it, but they still have a profile.

Strange.
 
I have twelve of these, some from October 20th, some from October 17th. None of them were on my feed yesterday. I think the actual comments have disappeared as per what @MelissaBaby said above.

Maybe it’s the proximity of Halloween.

I think you're on to something. I have a 1:1 correspondence between comments in the story from Anonymous and "Deleted user" in the feed.

BTW there is also a @deleted user , whose empty profile with 1999 join date seems an awful lot like a scratch or test account.

I think there might be something off with the notifications as well. I just got one that a favorite published a story. It just came in minutes ago, yet it says '13 hours ago'

Had to read a book in one of my college computer classes, ‘The Ghost in the Machine,’ I think it may have reached singularity.
 
I've got about a dozen of them. All complimentary, nothing I would have had deleted.

Mysterious!
