Take this typing speed test for me

On my phone without my glasses with a migraine while half awake.

I'll take it again after I really wake up. And I'll do it on my laptop as well.

This was at my desktop computer. Dell keyboard. The keys have a nice, soft, responsive action.

Also, totally sober, alas.

82 wpm with 98% accuracy (I was one fire, I'm usually worse.) on an ordinary work keyboard.

I don't know if thats good or not. Will see what others post.

Blackweb keyboard from Walmart, used with my Frankenstein computer

It’s not easy on a phone as the words you are meant to be typing disappear out of view. The UX is poorly designed.

Hahhh, No.

With all of my errors and corrections, I'd be about a minute per word.

Made about five errors in this post.

Logitech bluetooth keyboard on desktop.

Higher than I was expecting. My real WPM is closer to 25-30. If I can get in the flow and read ahead it goes faster.

On laptop I seem to average 108 wpm, 98% acc. I agree with @alohadave though; if you get into a flow it feels like you're entering a high of sorts. My best was 1114 114 wpm, acc 98%.

On phone: 48 wpm, 98% acc. Combination of sliding and typing.

Edit // on my trusty MX Keys keyboard I'm getting 126 wpm with 100%. Calling @onehitwanda to see the numbers of a pro at work.

Typing speed: 75-80 wpm at 90-95%. Ducky mechanical keyboard, brown switches.

Writing speed: much less, much backtracking!

1114 you say? Wow! ;-)

I’m pretty consistently in the 80 wpm range. I have a keyboard with cherry mx brown switches (quieter than other mechanical switches, but isn’t particularly quiet)

As much as I love ‘y mechanical keyboard, my wpm is the same as the generic mushy keyboard I had before.

I bet I’d be 20 wpm on a phone. I won’t even try to measure.

First try, 78wpm, 96% accuracy.

I'm out of practice. Back when I was programming full-time, a colleague told me once that I typed so fast it sounded like paper tearing. I don't even know what the rate was, but I'd estimate high 90s, maybe over 100.

My present hardware is the standard built-in keyboard on a 8 year old 15 inch (full size, not shrinkydink) Macbook Pro. Fuck phone typing :p

89 wpm, 99% accuracy, laptop keyboard. Probably a bit faster when I was younger, but usually the limiting factor is how quickly I can come up with the words I want to type.

Gave it a try on a iOS device just now and got 56wpm @99%

Second try: 61wpm 100%

...it weren't no phone. It was the onscreen keyboard on a 9" iPad in landscape mode so I can touch-type with all 10 fingers.

On an Android phone here.

My first couple goes I typed like I normally would, hitting the predicted text word as soon as I'd typed enough letters (so s-y-s-system rather than s-y-s-t-e-m, and d-down) and it said Result Invalid - APK Detected. When I'm typing normally I also have autocorrect fixing most of the errors as I go along.

It took a few times to practice actually typing all the letters, instead. So my normal inputting would be faster, though usually I'm stopping to think so it's not my typing on the phone that's the limiting factor.

Thank you, Mavis Beacon 🙄

Thats on my very clunky old Dell keyboard.

@Comshaw, my father was a two-fingered typist too, and typed really fast and accurately. He was a journalist, then a screenwriter.
He worked from home. I came home from school one day, expecting to hear the sound of his typing coming from his office, but the house was silent. I went into his room, and saw that he'd typed the single word
PAD
on a blank sheet of paper.
Hours later I found out he'd had a stroke, and had been rushed to hospital by my mother. He'd been trying to write "PART 2", but mistyped the "R", and then collapsed.

Regular desktop PC with Logitech G213 keyboard. I wish my actual writing speed was anywhere close to this.

Still have the migraine and just woke up, but wearing my glasses now, lol. On my phone - android something or other.

1st try on my iPad

I’ve done this test before on my full size keyboard and hit somewhere around 135 WPM.

My actual productive WPM is more on the order of ~10 though lol
