The now fully official Author’s Hangout Halloween 2025 competition support thread

I enjoyed writing Dancing Naked in the Moonlight? more than I expected. For the third time, I thought of a Halloween story as standalone and quickly had ideas for follow-ups.

Unfortunately, I rushed it. I wrote it after finishing a non-Halloween story and before going on a family trip, where it would be much harder to write and edit, so I had a pseudo-deadline well before the official one. I've noticed several things I'll probably change about it before starting Worshipping Satan? Corrupting the Innocent? or Riding Broomsticks? The process of revising a story sounds ominous, so I guess I can look forward to that learning experience.

Writing to a comp deadline can be tricky. I empathize.
 
I hope mine gets approved in time 😭 it ended up being 26k words and I JUST SUBMITTED IT LAST NIGHT. My title ended up being to long so I had to shorten it from The Infernal Perdition of Miriam Persignar to just The Infernal Perdition of Miriam. Do we get a notification or something or is there a thread where the stories get posted to? I don't think I asked about that part.

You should - absent the current problems - get a notification that it has been published. And it should then also appear on:

Because of all the delays, I decided to publish sooner than I planned. I'm sure there are some glitches and errors, but I'd rather live with them than lose out on the competition altogether, not that I have a shred of hope of winning.

My vocabulary isn’t that advanced lol. Are you saying that with every submission there’s less views? Or with more submissions there’s less views to go around?

Also, is there like a *select panel* voting? Or does everyone vote? or how does that work?
