Welcome to Day 16 of The Halloween 2025 Competition

Writing to a comp deadline can be tricky. I empathize.I enjoyed writing Dancing Naked in the Moonlight? more than I expected. For the third time, I thought of a Halloween story as standalone and quickly had ideas for follow-ups.
Unfortunately, I rushed it. I wrote it after finishing a non-Halloween story and before going on a family trip, where it would be much harder to write and edit, so I had a pseudo-deadline well before the official one. I've noticed several things I'll probably change about it before starting Worshipping Satan? Corrupting the Innocent? or Riding Broomsticks? The process of revising a story sounds ominous, so I guess I can look forward to that learning experience.
I was going for an, “Aw! We’ve got a puppy,” vibe.@EmilyMiller, lovely Alien reference. Love the smile on Lily and Emma
You nailed it!I was going for an, “Aw! We’ve got a puppy,” vibe.
You should - absent the current problems - get a notification that it has been published. And it should then also appear on:I hope mine gets approved in timeit ended up being 26k words and I JUST SUBMITTED IT LAST NIGHT. My title ended up being to long so I had to shorten it from The Infernal Perdition of Miriam Persignar to just The Infernal Perdition of Miriam. Do we get a notification or something or is there a thread where the stories get posted to? I don't think I asked about that part.
Oh wow that’s a lot of submissions! I should try to get it in sooner for the next contestYou should - absent the current problems - get a notification that it has been published. And it should then also appear on:

It’s getting crazier with each comp…Oh wow that’s a lot of submissions! I should try to get it in sooner for the next contest
My vocabulary isn’t that advanced lol. Are you saying that with every submission there’s less views? Or with more submissions there’s less views to go around? It’s getting crazier with each comp…
The benefits of extra views are commensurately attenuated, sadly.
with more submissions there’s less views to go around?
Nope, it’s just readers (and other authors) voting as for any story. Also, is there like a *select panel* voting? Or does everyone vote? or how does that work?
Thank youI've been feeling unwell so I've been mostly off the forums but I must say - this thread I check every day for the awesome pictures that go with the contest. Thanks @EmilyMiller
Guess autocorrect thought it should be a command instead of just a wish, lolThank you
And hope you feel better soon (which autocorrect tried to make into whore you feel better soon)
Damn, this contest seems awfully one bomby this year.
Not sure, but I think it means that people are getting review bombed. One bomby?
How many have you gotten? I don't know I quite hit double digits in the Nude Day, but it was around 10 of them. I stopped watching as carefully after 7 of them (4 one evening)Damn, this contest seems awfully one bomby this year.
Lots of people voting 1 on stories out of spite or trying to throw the contest or something. One bomby?
It’s crazy, right? Like all the orcs were emptied out of Mordor in one go. Or… one very obsessed and kinda unwell person.Damn, this contest seems awfully one bomby this year.
Or just as they can with utter impunity under the current ‘system.’Lots of people voting 1 on stories out of spite or trying to throw the contest or something.
Not sure, but I think it means that people are getting review bombed.
