You never make any argument for your viewpoint. The Constitution is on my side on this, as the Framers would tell you. At least 90% of what it does shouldn't be a government function and absolutely shouldn't be Federal.

Most of the Executive Branch departments shouldn't be in existence. Centralized power is a bad thing. Power should rest with the people, or as close to them as possible. Your local and state governments should have most of the power. That's how our Union is structured. And that's the best possible structure.

I'm glad though, the military at least is getting an Oct 15th check. They deserve a raise after serving under a team that calls soldiers suckers and losers. [In my day, I got paid once a month. the ONLY reason they've given in and ensured the military would receive their payments was due to the C-span event seen by millions and millions of mike johnson being confronted on air by a military wife.

The woman was trembling in anger and worry: she makes less money than her husband; they have 2 medically fragile children; her husband has served multiple tours in war zones; she makes far less than her husband. They already live paycheck to paycheck, and without his paycheck they can't buy the medicine their children need to live. Without that money, her children will actually die.

She directly stated that, in previous shutdowns, there had always been law passed by congress to ensure the service people still received their checks. She confronted him that republicans held the majority in the house & the senate and that it was a republican (trump) who currently sits in the White House and so to blame democrats when republicans hold the power just won't wash.

Talk about being put on the spot: he was told, in effect & to his face, that he would be responsible for killing her two kids. There was NO WAY republicans could therefore go on to refuse seeing their service people paid.

1. A Constitutional amendment that says that in any year when the Federal deficit exceeds 3% of GDP that every last member of Congress is barred from running for re-election the next time they would stand for re-election.

2. A Constitutional amendment that strictly defines and limits the role of the Federal government to specific duties of interstate, national, and international interest.

2A: Federal programs that provide funding to states, individuals, and other entities are to be ended. The Federal government will be prohibited from taking money for the purpose of redistributing it.
