The "I don't want to talk about AI" thread, and the new topic is: boating and sailing

I eat ... 'stuff'.

I put little to no effort into it and often just nuke it, maybe with the box still on.

'Cooking' for hours is not happening. Not ever.

Plates/bowls/cups are usually plastic or paper and get tossed out, not washed.

What puzzles me is how uninterested I am in cooking compared to how interested I am in eating. Feels like these two things would go together nicely.
I quite enjoy cooking but I often don't have the executive function to plan a meal.

We get three meal boxes a week and those work great. Ingredients and a menu to follow, I will happily cook that stuff. But if I'm at the market, surrounded by every ingredient I could possibly want, trying to decide which of them I'm actually going to buy for dinner? Ugh.

Speaking of food, I had a busy night: View attachment 2570402View attachment 2570403
My cherry pies oozed, which is perfect for Halloween. I tried to clean it up, but it just looked even more like a murder scene. This is four pies, not two pictures of the same two pies, lol.

Brown butter chocolate chip cookies.

Key lime meringue pies and vanilla cupcakes.

And I propose food you've made or consumed recently as a new topic for what is quickly becoming a daily random chat.
So we do still have porn photo threads here.

I love cooking, but planning the meal and that part is what's fun. I have no interest in cooking one of those planned box meals.

If they actually do fix my knee, that will probably cut down on my writing time, because I will be cooking again. I love cooking fancy meals.

Most of my MC's have parts of me in them, although that is less true than it was. Alan and Lisa, the original MC's in my original series, both have a lot of me in them. Alan's passion for cooking is definitely mine. In the early stories, I was generally making the same meals IRL he was in the story. Then my knee failed again and he got better at it, not being limited by my abilities.

I miss cooking.

Like writing, planning a meal is something I do enjoy when I have the oomph for it, but it requires a lot of oomph and often I just don't have it. Or it takes something like a hard deadline to make me find it.

...and stainless steel counter top! That's pro!

I am guilty of having a limited range of meals that I run in rotation. I'm happy with them, but occasionally he'll arrive home with ingredients for 'maybe lets try something different?' 🧐:giggle: I'm happy to try some new recipes but reserve the right to decline.
One of my current range includes a recipe I heard mentioned during lockdown on YT by a celebrity crush of mine. She apparently likes Chicken Teryaki and now, so do I :)

It is. Some kind of restaurant or similar I'm guessing.

Yeah, maybe a frozen pizza today instead of canned chili or tomato soup. Maybe some ground pork today instead of a chicken thigh or two. Coffee? Milk? Let's jazz it up and put coffee in milk!!!

Frozen pizza and chips are our goto after a few days on the boat - we sing the pizza song on the way home!

That was at work, so yeah, definitely pro, lol.

I have a bad habit of not wanting to leave my house to go to the grocery store. Meal kits were handy at the point when my agoraphobia was at its worst. (Literally only left my house to go to work and spent about two hours every day gearing myself up to do that.) But I seldom actually made the meals on the cards, I just... used the ingredients how I wanted to use them, lol.

I like experimenting, but I've found lately that all I want are roasted veggies.

My current obsession is butternut squash roasted to a beautiful golden brown with avocado oil, salt, pepper, cinnamon and sage. It makes me happy. Also, sweet potatoes tossed in a BBQ seasoning blend I make and the recipe can be found in Lips of a Witch by @WhiteTailDarkTip. I've gotta be lacking in something in orange vegetables, lol.

" after a few days on the boat "

Un modest, non average.

Last time I was 'on a boat' was about 15 years ago when the road flooded and a neighbor brought out their old rowboat. We measured over 8' of water over the road at one spot.

Oh - our boat is 45yrs old and almost affordable! Think 'camping in a fibreglass tent' ! It does have a cooker so we can use its hob to make some decent meals.

sooo... what is she?

Because when I grow up (or win the lottery, ha) there's a Halberg-Rassy with my name on it. :sneaky:
She's a 1985 Sadler, but the Rassy's are a modern classic
To keep us on track, I often cook chicken teryaki or reheat something I've frozen at home. Bacon and egg breakfasts of course with proper coffee 😋
Some of my better stories are set on sailey boats

Saily boats and dinghies are the best. Lasers are my first love.

Some of my earliest memories are at my parents' dinghy club. I've loved sailing boats since I was about five. Joined a local club here, waiting for spring to put my ebay find on the water and offend all the old stiffnecks, but miss med cruising. Wish I lived at the coast, though, would love to get into keelboat racing but it's just too far to justify.

Oh well. In my next life!
