One Big Beautiful Bill Act

Looks like the bill is still there for them to open gov back up. No comments from dems this morning.
I’m disappointed we are not seeing the president take action while it is shut down.

The purpose of CR is to temporarily fund the government. Full stop. Funding for healthcare goes through the appropriations process.
Healthcare should not be funded by appropriations. The ACA 3000 page obamacare bill did not include funding. They passed it without any idea how to pay for it. No more appropriations! Fix that bill on its own. The liberals need to understand tacking appropriations like ACA, funding illegals and NPR is not how business is done in Congress. Pelosi is a failed leader. They can do better.

I started the thread. It’s not about any forms of taxation other than OBBB. If you want to discuss tariffs, payroll taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, etc., you’re in the wrong thread.

This thread is about the OBBB and what it means to middle class taxpayers under common scenarios. They illustrate key provisions of the bill, including extending our current marginal tax rates, a higher standard deduction, social security deduction, overtime deduction, tip deduction, qualified dividends and capital gains rate reduction, and child care tax credit.

Feel free to provide OBBB scenarios of your own.
Wait I have a question.. if everyone is suddenly paying “NO taxes”…. And there really wasn’t any spending cuts…

Let’s see, carry the one. Right…look exploding debt. I mean since all the Cheeto’s friends got tax cuts too. Is he acting like Oprah? You get a tax cut! You get a tax cut!

And you believe there will be no taxes for all of those folks don’t you? Sure…. Makes sense.

The key to most of those was how much had to go into their FSA. I know I don’t have to do that at all, my health coverage is good-but not for them as the Bloated Busted Bill is gutting health care for many who can’t do without it.

Does the home there have standard cognitive tests with the jello, or is the test really the jello itself? Green jello today? Or do they switch it up and it’s rice pudding on Fridays?

You are wrong.
The original Affordable Care Act (ACA) was primarily funded through new taxes on high-income individuals and medical-related industries, along with cuts to Medicare provider rates and Medicare Advantage payments, which collectively were projected to reduce the budget deficit. Expansion of Medicaid, a core component of the ACA, was also funded through these measures.

Nobody is saying “everyone is paying NO TAXES.” The three scenarios illustrate situations where it’s possible to not owe federal income taxes , and there certainly are a number of folks that fit, or closely resemble those profiles.

Keep in mind that roughly a third of Americans already pay no income taxes, and about half account for 97% of tax income tax revenue. There’s no question that the extending the lower marginal rates and the other provisions in the OBBB significantly lowers the tab for most taxpayers.

The original Affordable Care Act (ACA) was partially and temporarily funded through new taxes. The most recent funding was part of a trillion dollar covid inflation causing bill. Democrats continue to attempt to prop up the ACA create by the obamacare act that eliminated quality healthcare and insurance for Americans several years ago.
The subsidies currently funding the insured's payments end with 2025.
No one is saying it out loud, but this is the first time Obamacare is challenged and hopefully will be revealed as the fraud it is. Now we need to see Republican's actually fix healthcare for Americans. Not repeat another do nothing but complain, democrat sinking ship routine.

Except for the tab it drops on the folks in the lowest bracket when their health care is gone and they gotta account for more with less.

Was it lime jello? Or you like orange?

In this state the max/min income for the full subsidy is in the second lowest tax bracket. Even if you get the poverty line just right and itemize to the max, you still owe about 600$.

You mean able bodied people who are unwilling to spend 40 hours per MONTH working, getting continuing education or job training, or care giving?

He still hasn't done the math. The people in the lowest bracket ~9800 and less income do not qualify for any subsidy except on minimal bronze coverage. Which is basically nothing more than a physical and some pharma assistance on generic drugs. The lowest bracket cannot cover the premiums of coverage let alone copays or a 9000$ deductible.
Obamacare removed the possibility of coverage to the lowest bracket of earners.

Parents, guardians, and caregivers of dependent children are exempt from the 40 hour per month requirement.
First of all, it's 80 hours per month.
Second of all, the exemption is not automatic, you have to apply for the exemption AND provide proof you were a full time caregiver for the past 30 days (I wonder how you prove that?).
Third of all, you seem to be pro-needless government regulation when it comes to regulating poor people.

Oh, you have to apply and show proof of eligibility? That’s horrible! So cruel.

They (MAGAts, like BabyBoobs) gotta replace those desperate, exploited / poorly compensated "illegals" they are deporting somehow…

Their (MAGAts, like BabyBoobs) answer is to create an even MOAR desperate demographic that they can exploit / poorly compensate.

The fact that many of those who are forced into working a debilitating job that pays just enough to exclude those workers from maaaaany government subsidies (thus adding insult to injury) doesn’t confront “the man in the big white car with the attractive blonde in the passenger seat” (pardon “The Grapes of Wrath” reference)…

😑

🤬

We. Told. Them. So.
