The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

While running errands Friday, I bought some groceries. When I get home from those trips I toss all the receipts aside to enter in Quicken later when I feel up to it.

This morning while entering those receipts, I realized I was missing a bag of groceries. I'd left it in the car since then. Luckily it was only a bottle of syrup and a bag of cookies ... not the package of chicken breasts I did the same thing with a few months ago.

I've heard from Kittengirl_9647 and Emily_452 recently. Emily_452's profile says:

"I'm returning to this community after a break. I'm new to Lit and eager to explore."

Only one of those two things can be right, right?

Kittengirl_9647 has a much longer bio, but it looks like an attempt to fill space without saying anything.

Ah, you guys are taking a page out of the script, poking the bear.

Another spotting feature of bots... sigh... no, since the botmaster is obviously monitoring this thread to see how far they're getting with the charade, I'm not going to reveal any more telltales for them to fix. Like that semi-famous judge said, "I know it when I see it."

I get it. So what keeps you hanging around despite all the bots just the good convos when they happen?

If there are bots, engagement with them is almost certainly how their reward function works. Ignoring "faff," as I believe ElectricBlue would call it, is the winning strategy.

Best case scenario, the bot owners decide that it's not worth it.

Worst case scenario, the bots just get really good at posting interesting content that we all like.

Picked two more melons today, and the oldest daughter is coming over tomorrow to take some home. She's bringing pears.

The fall cucumbers are flowering, but not the broccolini.

I brought the amaryllis up to the patio. I don't think they've ever looked this good at the end of summer. I'll keep them on the porch for a while and let them gradually dry out to store 'til Christmas. Some repotting is called for.

feeling mostly human this morning, for the first time in several days. I will teach a class today, but I teach it remotely. And maybe I can get back to writing, although there is a virtual stack of grading I should do first (or at least soon-ish).

THE BOTS ARE ALIVE

I'm slow to consider bots a possibility. Usually I assume that odd, seemingly nonsensical things are being done by odd, seemingly nonsensical people. But I have to admit that there are a few things that seem a little too coincidental to be explained by "several odd, seemingly nonsensical people happened to all randomly show up on Lit in the same week")
