Deliverance the Frontier Town

The frontier town of Deliverance, unique not for precious metals but for possessing the sole flat route facilitating westward expansion, shrewdly understood its strategic importance.

Its elders proactively acquired surrounding lands ideal for a future railroad and dispatched miners to unearth the valuable coal in nearby hills, determined to control these resources for the town's prosperity rather than ceding them to outside interests.

This foresight fueled a booming settlement, complete with a church, hotels, shops, and bars, drawing families and workers alike. However, the relentless toil of building the town left its predominantly male populace yearning for female companionship.

Staying true to their cooperative ethos, the townsfolk debated how to manage even this "depraved business" without external exploitation. It was at a pivotal town meeting that Mrs. Jackson, a spirited 30-year-old widow, proposed an astonishing solution: the town's two hundred women would, for a minimum six-month period, become "whores" on flexible schedules that accommodated their family lives, with all women coming of age similarly contributing by selling their virginity at the highest price, all for the collective benefit of Deliverance.

So the legend begins.

Then as now, the word whore had a very negative connotation. No woman wanted to be thought as one.

So how about 'town wives'? Each volunteer woman would rotate through all the men on their particular street. This kept them local in case of children and and their husbands get the benefit of the attentions of the neighbors wives as well.

They show up, cook dinner, clean a little and then service the men's sexual needs, staying the night.

But certain protections had to be put in place. A woman's safety HAD to be ensured and the first man who beat a 'wife' was tried and hung by a judge and jury of his fellow 'husbands'. Even getting a 'little rough' would end a man in chains making little rocks out of big ones.
Any children that resulted were now the responsibility of the town financially and all participating men had to pay into an account (set up through Wells Fargo) to be allowed to participate.

These new rules had some unintended results. Arrests for public drunkeness fell off 80% as men stayed home more and to be shamed for getting whiskey dick was something no man wanted in front of their 'wife'. Thus violent crime and gambling fell off by the same amount. Saloons complained about their loss of income but no one much minded. Day cares opened in their place along with schools paid for by the husband's fund. Hygiene became a thing, for men as well as woman and bathhouses and spas opened. Restaurants flourished and the town soon had a rousing nightlife where couples mingled and gathered.

To this day, the town of Deliverance continues this tradition and is known worldwide as the most successful effort in polyamory ever.

the town was a cooperative, although I used the word whore in the idea for the story outline I am sure I can think of something more fitting however Whore, whore house is time period correct. I think there would be a debate about this but some of the women might be a little more adventurous and the idea of having more than one man to play with might scratch their itch. After all it is for the good of the community. One for all and all for one.

Values would have to be set for all jobs with the town’s percentage agreed. Or Every member of the community has a job and are paid from the community coffers. How much money. The sale of coal the rent from the railroad and the commissions from ticket sales the bars and hotels and yes the four houses of debauchery even the collection plate at the church all works its way into the town and then to the community. The town prospers as the world around it stumbles, new family’s apply to become a part of the community and as the modernising world grows so dose deliverance.
