Fresh fruit right off the tree is something that has be be experienced. Flavor is so good. This one is just touch tart yet.
These apples are ready to fall, so probably clean this tree off during the weekend.

My apple of choice is the Granny Smith... which doesn't grow near me. We're lousy loaded with red varieties though.

There is nothing like fresh apples! Our apple trees are a bit overgrown and we’ve stopped cutting them back and thinning them. We still get some good fresh apples - there is nothing like that taste!

The interwebs say my beloved, tasty Granny Smith grows near you. Do you happen to grow them at your place? When's harvest season? Asking for a friend... a friend who travels to the East Coast sometimes.

So my busiest time of the year has begun. Three times a week on the hill with my boys. It has been a little less difficult than I imagined as the hills seem to grow each year. Yesterday was particularly tough on the steepest hills with torrential rain making the grass, Heather, bracken and rock treacherous. It was not helped by carrying 25 partridges in my vest.

The plus is the Jack has had his first three days out. He has been brilliant tackling the terrain and starting to find and return birds to hand. During the drives he has chilled as you can see in the photos. So all bodes well for his first season as part of the pack.

And when not on the hill the community work continues. Today I Chair a meeting with our local council to discuss the condition of our roads. I think it will get heated lol so should be fun and keep me on my toes.
