Once Upon A Time: the Dark Fairy Tales Challenge

My entry is publishing tomorrow, but it got shunted to the reluctance / non-consent category. I'm not happy about that.

On the one hand, I get it. The plot is that a girl was sold into bondage by her grandparents, so yes - non-consent. On the other hand the reluctance/ non-consent category is mostly full of rape fantasies, but my story doesn't contain rape. It actually doesn't contain any sex, just bondage. Thus, I thought it should go in the BDSM category, which contains plenty of stories with questionable consent.

Definitely leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
I dropped mine in noncon for a similar reason. I don't detail any nonconsensual sex happening, but both girls in my story are forced into their respective roles.

And I do not expect high scores specifically because I black screen the noncon aspects and just imply it.

Also, having just reread it ... I want to rewrite it when I have time to fill in all the blanks. This is definitely an abridged fairytale.

Sorry to hear that - but interesting none the less.

I'm quite often conflicted about which category some of my stories should go in, as they often have multiple themes. I never new that a reviewer could change a writers chosen category.
Yeah, I didn't know they could do it either until it happened. Ironically, it feels very non-consentual.

It happens from time to time, if Laurel feels that the story would do better in another category. Given that she's been doing this for more than 25 years, it might be wise to trust her judgment.

That said, it happened with a story of mine a couple of years back, and it took a while for me to be reconciled with it.

I'm concerned now, reading about stories getting moved to other categories.

There are two sex scenes in my story. The first is dubcon. The second is noncon. But I'm pretty sure the sort of people who frequent the dub/non con area are going to hate my story and how I portray the male lead, while people who hate dub/non con will enjoy him getting his comeuppance.

Here's hoping it goes into erotic horror where it belongs.

I had the perennial problem of a story featuring no actual incest, but incest-adjacent / taboo sex (the FMC, Cindy, seducing her step-mother’s new husband after her father’s death - for reasons). It would have probably got slammed in any category but T/I, but of course the incest crowd crave their blood relatives. I do think breaking the category into Taboo and Incest would be a good idea.

Why not put it on its it's head? The ultimate relative is yourself. A (sex changed) clone, or use matrix level VR to become someone else to then fuck a simulated of yourself.

On the Dark Fairytale story, it's been relatively dormant. Everything's lined up and it just needs words, but I can't find the time. After it still needs a ton of checks, or it'll be rejected for spelling and grammar. There's a good chance it'll be released after September, but I'm hoping for another spontaneous crunch of a few days.

I've toyed with the idea of writing a non-incest Taboo story, but most of the other social taboos in our culture are pretty tame for erotica.

Priest/Parishioner? Boss/Employee? Doctor/Patient? Technically those are all some level of taboo, but they show up in non-taboo erotica and porn all the time 😅

Maybe I could pick one of those dynamics and REALLY push the forbidden or compromising nature of it, but even still I don't know how it would be received in T/I.

I wrote a FIL / DIL story in T/I which I’m very proud of. It’s not wholly dissimilar to @Actingup’s Summer Lovin’ story. Traumatized people finding healing where they can. It was well-recieved.

Or... Brother and sister. He's the vicar, she's his parishioner. But she's a doctor and he's her patient. And she works for the parish, so he's her boss and she's his employee.

By the way, you've got a great imagination for the bizarre. Have you ever thought of writing something on your own, or it it too hot to write? LOL

Strangely, I have no problem coming up with bizarre things, but I don't really like writing them. The fairy tale I'm writing right now is probably one of the weirdest things I've ever written. I'm enjoying it, though, so maybe one day I'll do something properly strange.

"Into the Night' was pretty out there. I've got an idea loosely based on Sleeping Beauty mulling around in my head. I just want to finish something before I start anything else. My WIP folder seems to be growing from the inside with no relied in sight, and I haven't published anything in a few months.

I'm having a lot of fun with the fairy tale I'm writing. It's reminding me to write more fantasy-type stuff in general. I'm close to writing the ending, I think, then it will be a matter of retooling some things and fine-tuning.

It isn't terribly erotic, yet, though I plan to ramp things for the end.

It brings up sort of interesting conundrum -- a good problem to have, really. The writing has gone well, I think, but if I'm too happy with the result then I might be hesitant to post it here, anonymously, rather than trying to keep it in my own name somewhere. The plan remains to post it here as part of the challenge, but it's a question that has wormed its way in.

It takes real effort to turn those WIPs into something that's finished. If the energy levels aren't there, it can be easier just to jot down a few hundred words of a new idea. Turning a draft into a complete work from start to finish takes focus and concentration, and that's mentally exhausting.

At last, with the morning’s golden light warming the shutters, she lifted herself from the Prince and retrieved her shift. “Two nights, two brothers,” she cackled. “Might there be others? A third, my word, more cock for my cunt!” And with that she disappeared like smoke beneath the door.
I'm now 4.6k words into my story of the two princes and the hag. One more sex scene to go, and the denouement. Will it have a happy ending? I suppose so. At least for some of the characters.

The first version is done.
Her fingers found her folds and slipped between them. “It broke the curse, my sweet, but none the worse. What new chance awaits, what fates? Two Princes for using, seducing, ruling and running. One will take me to wife, and usher in strife. Strife and hate, oh, we can’t wait, sweet one, we can’t wait!”

And she plunged her fingers into herself, and rubbed and rubbed until the mountains rang with the cries of her climax.
