How Do I Create A Series With Different Entry Names

If this thread gets allowed, I could use some help. I have stories on my account that have different titles but are part of a completed series. That said, how do I go about making this series on my profile. Please help if/when possible. Thank you.

Easy-peasy! First you need to go into your Options, then My Options, then turn on "Participate in early site feature versions beta-testing."

This will let you manually create a series by going to Series (Beta), then click + New Story Series, and then fill out the series creation form. I think a moderator has to approve the series text, which might take a few days. But once they've approved the manually created series, you can add already-published stories to your series, no matter what their title is, and you'll also be able to mark new stories as part of the series when you're publishing them.

Wonderful, and thank you. I just did your step-by-step. Hopefully the mods will approve. It's just three stories of mine with different titles, but together, they complete the whole saga and would like them grouped together. Btw do you write? Also, I'd be very honored and humbled if you'd be interested in looking at my entries. If you want.

The way Lit connects between the forum-side and the story-side is weird, so there's no easy direct way to look at someone's author page without having to go to the Author Search function, type their name in, and find them.

So I strongly recommend that you make a forum signature that has a link to your author page, that will make it super easy for other people to see your work!

HAHA, well then I politely ask for your assistance how to do that as well. I did take the time to google your profile and started reading your "PennyThomspon" story.

Click on your name up near the top of the forum, then click Signature. you can put whatever you want in there, and it will show up at the bottom of each of your forum posts!

Small correction: for "a few days", read "up to three or four weeks". And make sure you've completed the submission process: it's not entirely intuitive, and I once waited for a month before realising I hadn't done it properly.

Yeah, I did the thing a day or two ago and it's still pending. I'm not hurting over it, just want it done when possible. What I am bugged about is I posted a story. A rather long story . . . and it didn't get the traction I hoped for. So I broke it down into "abridged" chapters. I had to fight to get them posted. All but one has made it to my profile. The last entry, submitted on the 20th, is still pending. All the others are up and running. Weird.

Your "Among Us" series? They're going up one per day. That's pretty much standard practice, so that no-one floods the "New stories" lists all at once.

Highly understandable. But this one pending entry is still listed as Pending. The one per day hasn't changed this one's status and that makes me wonder if/when it will get posted. Hopefully soon tho. I mean in hindsight the full story is available but it's like 8pgs long and I can see how that would deter some readers.

If the full story is already up, that chapter could be triggering a duplicate story bot.

I'd wait a week or so to see what happens - if you change anything too soon you'll cock something up. If it's still pending after a week, PM Laurel. You'll also need to delete the old version

As an aside, 8 Lit pages is not long by Lit standards. By the sounds of it, you're going to end up with four two-page chapters, which is possibly not ideal. But at least you'll get an idea how many have read your story by the View count on that last chapter. You'll see a decline in views, most likely.

Rather than futz with existing stories, put the effort into writing new ones. That's far more productive.

Interestingly enough, my abridged version of the totality has been posting without issues. Six out of Seven total. It's the seventh one that's just in pending purgatory for now. I figure by monday if it's not up then I might try reaching out to a Mod, however that gets done. But anyway, thank you for your input!

The only mod is Laurel. The only way to contact her is by a PM - envelope at the top of the page, start a new Conversation.

Well it's still taking forever for a particular series to be "approved" by a moderator. And my last abridged entry has gone unnoticed for 11 days. So I made a minor addition to it and resubmitted. Hopefully things will get off the ground and get both situations approved.
