Doesnt everyone>?

Democrats are protesting a militarized state.

Deflect as needed

He's right. I can't find any Democrats who were in opposition to Hochul putting National Guard into the NY subway system.

For that matter, I don't see too many Democrats who are actually opposed to militarizing the police, which to me is far more dangerous than deploying the Guard.

From the ACLU:

https://www.aclu.org/news/smart-justice/another-day-another-124-violent-swat-raids

We found that almost 80% of SWAT raids are to search homes, usually for drugs, and disproportionately, in communities of color. During these drug searches, at least 10 officers often piled into armored personnel carriers. They forced their way into people's homes using military equipment like battering rams 60 percent of the time. And they were 14 times more likely to deploy flashbang grenades than during SWAT raids for other purposes.

So the current militarization is cool.

Got it.

It seems to me that if you didn't like it before, it's hypocritical to like it now.

Oddly, yes.

Since the National Guard forces are trained to act within much stricter use of force limitations (Rules of Engagement) than urban police forces are.

A cop can beat the fuck out of you with impunity just because you may have told him to 'Fuck off!'.

A Guard troop who does that kind of shit will get fired from the Guard and or imprisoned.

A Guard troop who fails a psych exam will be likely be discharged.

A cop who fails a psych exam (if he even has one) won't be impacted by it at all thanks to police unions and utterly biased police commissions, courts, and prosecutors.

Nope.
Democrats are protesting a military state.

Something that is normally a bipartisan subject
They should be protesting the Democrat policies that made the military occupation a requirement for public safety.

PS: So, unlike a state governor, the D.C. Mayor has no constitutional sovereignty, she exercises “home rule” only because Congress delegated that power. That delegation is always subject to federal override. He can strip her power in practice by directing DOJ and other federal agencies to step in where laws are being ignored or rights deprived “under color of authority” (18 U.S.C. § 242). He could direct the following: "The Department of Justice shall investigate and prosecute corruption in the government of the District of Columbia and shall take all necessary measures to ensure federal laws are faithfully executed." The Constitution is fun.

Sure. What's not to like about crime rates decreasing and people's civil rights being protected from police abuse at the same time?
The militarized country of the federal government reminiscent of scary shit that has been a major part of history.

But yah....no more being scared in the scary cities that you aren't actually in.....good call 👍

Also, civil rights.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You mean like when half the country was occupied by the US Army and US Navy to protect the rights of black people from local and state authorities and then when those Federal forces left the local and state authorities went right back to oppressing black people?

Or do you oppose the idea that Federal forces enforced the end of segregation in the public schools? Was that bad?

Or do you object to how Federal forces protected anti-segregation protesters from thug police in the 1960's?

Is that the scary shit you're referring to?

You must be one of those state's rights radicals I keep hearing about. :geek:

If you didn't like it before
Why are you defending it now.

You keep telling me about the past that you didn't like as a way to defend the same behavior your celebrating now.

That's not about me.

The last time was the 60's.

Fun story about that ....oh wait...you know that one ..I'm sure.

No. Federal forces were sent out to stop the Rodney King riots back in the 1990's and Federal forces eventually put down the 2020 "Summer of Love" riots as well.
