I live in Los Angeles which means I'm free to call out the repression of majority-Muslim societies around the world. It insane to me that so many progressives support Islam when it has such a poor record of civil rights for minorities and women.

If I lived in a Muslim society like Iran I would be killed if I spoke out against the hijab. That's why the rest of us should do it. I support African-American rights in America, even though I'm not black. I try to use the privilege I've been given as a white woman to speak up. I support queer and trans rights, even though I'm not queer or trans. It's just the right thing to do.
