History: Like most things, it began simply. When the government made mandatory the installation of RFID chips in the index fingers of all registered citizens, Hector designed a line of gloves without index fingers. Then, when the whole process proved intrusive--he designed a line of finger sleeves with RFID blockers. Thus Index Industries was born. Hector often joked that he made and spent billons to arrive back at a "glove."

While true in a sense, the main idea was that as people became more and more "connected," they wanted control over how and when others had access to their internal systems and information. An idea which became more complicated and profitable as the wetware fad gained in popularity. He merged with a software developer and made software to keep wetware OSs secure--then he developed systems for the government to work around them. In a way, he was playing both sides, back and forth, ad infinium.

He couldn't, of course, let the government discover that for every "work around" he sold to them, he was selling a reciprocal blocker to the Dark Web, so he developed relationships among the underworld to disperse the illegal software while selling new work arounds back to the government. This arrangement gave him two nearly inexhaustible streams of revenue, clean money from the government, dirty money in clean, untraceable crypto.

He has more money than he knows what to do with, but no one who he trusts to share it with.

Oh interesting, I like the application of tech to cosmetics. I think we could include bio enhancements in the gen pop - like artificial organs rendering donors unnecessary etc.

Failsafe Mechanism:

In the event of being given an open ended command that may not have a safe end moment or fails to be overridden by a new command, a failsafe ensures Devina isn't left to die.

For example:
If told to "wait here until I return." And said person does not return and no other comes to intercept with a new command, the failsafe mechanism will engage after 72 hours in order to preserve her life. This would include her Handler in case anything happened to them and they didn't return. This allows her to be released from the command.

Programmed Hierarchy of Authority:

Her Handler's commands automatically override all others and a lesser authority cannot give a command that conflicts with the Handler's commands because it will be ignored in favour of the Handler.
- In the event that someone begging for their life might accidentally rescind a kill command.

Her Handler was reprogrammed as Ki when he took over her care.

In the event two lesser authorities give conflicting commands, Devina obeys the latent command - the last one given to her. Assuming she can't 'glass of water' either command away anyway.

I'm working on assembling a sort of government manual for her which i think would be a cool little addition to the thread but would be kind of lengthy too, I'd need to do it across several posts to actually do the whole thing I think.

I want to preface this little review with a disclaimer: this thread is disgusting, depraved, nasty, filthy, dirty, fucked up and monstrous.

Of course, that's why I love it.

Based on A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, this is by far one of the best written fandom style threads I've ever read. I was a mega fan of the books in my teen years, I collected all of them. I've read them all. My sister even bought the complete works of Letters to Beatrice to boot. So I know Snicket's style backwards and forwards and this thread is excellent at emulating that style and maintaining authenticity despite including a level of sexual depravity that I aspire to.

Both writers are synced really well (this is for your information, kind reader, not mine cause I've been reading them both for over 15 years), they could literally be the same person in how well they've collaborated here. This thread would definitely make my top 5 favourite reads of all time on Lit with ease. I spent days reading it voraciously (I think my husband would both thank and berate Sharky and Princess cause it got him ridiculous amounts of action this past week, I've worn him out).

I love the invention and attention to detail in every aspect and the story line. They've managed to give each sex scene (and there are soooo many, I can go for a long time but even I think such activity at certain stages might put me in a sexual coma) a uniqueness, each one is different and there's a lot of humiliation which I appreciate immensely cause usually I have to be the one writing it to get that fix.

My favourite part (to date) is definitely Violet's brainwashing scene. But this thread ticks a lot of boxes for me and combines many of my favourite kinks and themes (not to leave out one of my favourite stories - I find fandom hard to get into at the best of times, because it can be a slaughter, so that says a lot).

The posts are lengthy, I'm a really fast but thorough reader and this took me several days but it was worth every second. I'd encourage you to read it but you might not come out as pure as you are now, friend. I'd do Lemony a disservice to tell you otherwise.

Heed the warnings: don't read it. Don't continue beyond this point.

Cause I imagine she'd need to have consistent check ups on her physical and mental faculties - they'd be interested to see if her training or implant degrades or alters outside of a controlled environment so they can further improve on modern Lucys.
Just thinking out loud again lol but Psych reports are more my wheelhouse than Medical ones even though the framework is very similar.

Okay I did up one to give an example of the MKUltra style trauma conditioning including the drugs but I glossed a little over detail to allow for imagination - so that the sexual compliance conditioning could be anything for example. Also allows for Devina to remember things, tell stories later and for truths to be discovered (I have a few inventive scenarios in mind though after doing a fair bit of research into MKUltra and Artichoke). But the government guys you're gonna run could also have their own memories for instance. It's basically written as a form outline so it reads like it's her first session in parts but not in others deliberately.
