Publishing Time? Question

Wondering the average time to publish from submission. When I started 5 years ago, it was 24 or 48 hours - seems like recently it's been a week or more. Not a criticism, just want to understand.

I believe the SLA is ~72 hours, but fluctuates based on volume and if an author has published on the site, or is new. That latter one is just "word on the street". I submitted a story on 8/18, and is in my pending folder with a 8/20 "publish" date. YMMV

Taking this a step further, I think the site does a refresh at some time every night where all stories that have been approved get pushed out. My thinking is that I can see the URL to the new stoary, but it is not yet live. Once the site refreshes, the url will go active - again my presumption on how they have production ops set up.

It isn't a SLA, and it isn't always even close to being met. Probably the majority of the time it is, but on a practically daily basis we hear from people who say it has taken more than a week, sometimes up to two weeks.

I think it's totally random. A while back I posted a story, then 2 days later an author I was beta reading for posted one and hers was published the next day, then mine was posted 2 days later. You're wasting your time if you try to figure it out. The answer is: either one day, or more than two weeks, or somewhere in between. Helpful, right?

So, story publising bingo might be a good game to play?
