Born to Run Story Event 2025 Support Thread

In the meantime, here is the story I mentioned back at the beginning, if anyone who didn't want to read it before writing their own entry wants to read it now. It doesn't really have anything to do with Springsteen and it got some of the nastiest comments I've ever received (if only because I've never posted in Loving Wives), but I'm still quite proud of it.

Ouph... my story is in t he pending bucket. it says that it's Published and set to go live on 8/25 ... uh... how can I hope to get any votes for the contest?
I guess I'll write another :p

It's not a contest, it's an author-organised challenge. There are no winners, or rather, we're all winners.

For this particular event, all the stories will be published on the same day.

Ooohh!! Thank you for that clarification :) I was like in a spiral ;) LOL! Phew

I've got two in the queue. One for the AI: New Era challenge and one for this Born to Run challenge. The AI story is coming out tomorrow. The Born to Run story on Aug 25th. I think it's down to the wording in the schedule

"Final anthology list" vs. "All stories"

When I pitched the idea for this challenge, I mentioned August 25th being the anniversary of the album's release. That, and I just thought all challenges released their stories on the same date. I can see advantages to both the big bang release and the slow trickle.

"That Thunder In Your Heart", my story based on 'She's The One', has been submitted. God what a great ride this challenge was. I can not wait to read other stories. 🤘🤘🤘

Hope you get it sorted.

I'll be submitting tomorrow or over the weekend. When I re-read it a few days ago I didn't care for it. I've made some revisions and feel like it's stronger, but need to let it sit for a day or so before going back and re-reading. I think it will still be weak, but I'm out of time and need to submit something.

Starlight in Southend-on-Sea, which was intended to be my entry but I most likely messed something up, is published today. It's a lesbian romance set in the early 2000s which hopefully invokes the song Night.
I did the "Report Story" thing and said, "This was intended for the "Born to Run" challenge, though it appears to have published early. Please be sure to include in the final list. Thanks!"

Hopefully that will get things straight on Aug 25. Until then, though, I have something to read!

Thanks: I will try to do that. I think I messed up entering one of the other challenges this year but since it's only really for my own satisfaction, it doesn't make much difference.

In the meantime, good story. I really enjoyed it (and yes, it reminded me of "Night"...and since you're from England, I imagined Ricky Gervais as the boss. ;) )

I have definitely worked for quite a few David Brent types...

Not related to the logistics of the writing challenge, but...

What's your favorite song from the Born to Run album, and why is it Thunder Road? :)

Seriously though, that song's been stuck in my head for days!

Backstreets is my favorite. It reminds me a lot of some of my friends from when I was a kid. I made it out of our dead end hometown. Lots of my friends didn't.
