Doesnt everyone>?

yes it does
Now I see. The tweet suggests war zones and yet doesn't reference war zones. The violence occurs much farther away from the capital so the comparison is odd.

The homicide rate in DC fell by almost half in 2024 and increase by twice the amount in Brazil during the same timeframe.

Trump's emboldened power grab is escalating. DC is the uncorking of what happened in LA, although crime in DC is decreasing, and law enforcement there says their help and that of the National Guard are not needed.

This from CNN, today:

"DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb, meanwhile, slammed Trump’s moves in a statement.

“The Administration’s actions are unprecedented, unnecessary, and unlawful. There is no crime emergency in the District of Columbia. Violent crime in DC reached historic 30-year lows last year, and is down another 26% so far this year. We are considering all of our options and will do what’s necessary to protect the rights and safety of District residents,” he said."

Citizens are pushing back at the unlawful actions of the president. What did he expect? A nation of sheep to graze upon for his Nobel Peace Prize prospects?

In the lead up to the move, Democrats and their allies in the media claimed crime was down in the District. But it turns out, the police commander in charge of the data was cooking the books.
"A D.C. police commander is under investigation for allegedly making changes to crime statistics in his district. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint," local NBC 4 Washington reports. "The union claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year."

Problems aren't going to be solved this way. It's like bleaching a blue shirt to get the stain out. Over the top autocracy.
If emergency powers are the only way to get your agenda done, they can declare everything an emergency (and they are) Meanwhile, no emergency exists.
