I spent a month in Spain and left there, a HUGE fan/supporter of "Siesta!"In rural France, the best time to shop (in supermarkets) is between 12 and 2. The French take a 2 hour lunch between those hours, usually three courses and using the full 2 hours. Most workers get meal vouchers as part of their benefits package, value at the discretion of individual employers, and usually worth between 8 and 15 euros (10 and 17 USD) at least half of which is funded by the employer. And virtually every village has a restaurant offering a 3 course set lunch for that price. Also, almost all businesses, bar the supermarkets but including banks, will close over the lunch period.
