Edit: based on Simon's post that Nuclear Fairy provided, I'm wrong. But you still need to re-up.
Don't expect them to fix it for you, Millie. If it's a glitch, then they may not even have a way of knowing which accounts are affected.
I don't know what they have to do to make that so. Fixing it is in your hands. Why do I need to re-up when the one on my profile has been up for years? They just need to switch on it on here.
I am not a white dot. You'll have Rover as your forum avatar.

It's your call, Millie. The site's not going to do anything for you. Unless you want a white circle forever, upload your avatar again. As I've tried to make clear, there is only one place to upload pictures now, and that one is already approved and being used. If this one is gone, I won't repost the unchanged one and have it go blank on my profile... I never even uploaded this one when I rejoined.
If it's a glitch, it'll fix itself. If it isn't a glitch, why did the one on my profile stay on my profile? If it goes blank there, I reup it or change it.

But it's fine there. So no need to reupload it.
You
Either re upload it or remain a white circle forever. I did mine, it doesn't change anything else. Takes about 30 seconds
well I hope it comes back, your eye was very strikingI have to find the pic or redownload it from Adobe Stock. The issue is that the picture here is of me. I don't want my real picture anywhere but here. So, I'll give it some time to see if it comes back. If it doesn't work out, I'll upload the stock photo I used on other sites when I get tired of the current circle without my eye.
What new rules? Almost all of the avatars removed were completely innocuous, or should I say uncontroversial. Who said, for example, that you couldn't have a red high-heeled shoe? You can probably see that on Amazon. The site needs to review avatars to meet their new rules. It appears that what they're doing is removing groups of avatars and waiting for users to upload new ones. That way they don't have to do every account at once, and they only need to review avatars for active users.
I've had a brief exchange with Laurel on a related subject. My side of the conversation assumed all that was the case. She hasn't said anything to suggest I was wrong, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm right.
You should reload your avatar. Just click on your name at the top of this page. Mouse over the white circle where your avatar should be and it will give you an "Edit" link that takes you to the options menu. Upload the image file there.
They've been taking just a few minutes to moderate the images. I think there's no longer a way to have separate avatars on the story side and the forum side. If you change the avatar on the story side, then it will take a while for it to update on all of the different pages.

The rule against nudity in avatars isn't very new now. The way I thought it through, the avatars were blanked so Lit could moderate them as they were replaced, not because they broke the nudity rule. That let them avoid wasting time moderating avatars for inactive users. What new rules? Almost all of the avatars removed were completely innocuous, or should I say uncontroversial. I am staying with this site because, well, it serves a purpose for me. Yet there is something weirdly passive-aggressive about Lit. To paraphrase Nietzsche, "If you gaze long into an erotic abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."The rule against nudity in avatars isn't very new now. My own avatar was a picture of some aquarium plants, but it was blanked.
Might need to go to bed early tonight. I had to read that twice because I was sure the first time it said;I am staying with this site because, well, it serves a purpose for me. That might be the problem I suppose. My eyes start to glaze over when I read too much of AH.
Don't need to answer that. It's already showing.I just uploaded one, and the message said waiting for moderator approval. What is the time lag?
